“Why hasn’t he gone public to make the demand” Skip Bayless questions Kyrie Irving’s desire to reunite with LeBron James

“Why hasn’t he gone public to make the demand” Skip Bayless questions Kyrie Irving’s desire to reunite with LeBron James

Kyrie Irving is a top-tier basketball player and among the best ball handlers in the league right now. But along with that, he has a reputation of being the most controversial player in the NBA today. He stands for his beliefs and makes them loud to clear from his side. So, along with the on-court action, his off-court drama always makes some news. There is no doubt that he brings a lot to the table, as expected for a Vocal player. But he has kept one thing under the wraps this offseason – his real intentions to join LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers this summer.

After testing the market, Irving exorcized player option with the Nets, staying with the franchise for 1 more season. However, it is believed that the Eastern Conference team may trade the point guard to another team this summer. And there has been just one sold interest registered for former rookie of the year, that is from the Los Angeles Lakers.

It is also for a possible reunion of famous 2016 championship winners, LeBron and Kyrie. Despite all the rumors about the reunion, Skip Bayless started to question Irving’s willingness to join LeBron and the Lakers. As per Skip, LBJ’s desire was public, Lakers and Nets also showed some movements for the trade, but Irving kept quiet in the whole situation.

Here’s what Skip said on “Undisputed” to support his views, “If Kyrie wants so badly to reunite with LeBron James in LA, why hasn’t Kyrie gone public with his trade demand by saying, ‘I want to go to the Lakers. I’m not going to be happy in Brooklyn. Get me to LA.’ Why hasn’t that happened yet?”

Kyrie Irving might look to up his value with eye-catching performances for the Nets in 2023.

A 30-year megastar is a hot commodity in the market. But his recent decisions hampered his reputation and value in the market that no team showed “eagerness” to jump onto his availability in the 2022 offseason. Earlier this summer, there were reports of Irving wanting to stay with the Brooklyn Nets.

He did leave the Cavs project with Kyrie-LBJ-Love; which handed them a championship in 2016. But then he couldn’t settle well in any of the 2 franchises he played into. Kyrie Irving is tough to read, and no one knows what is going on with him or the Nets. The Nets are the team Irving wanted to play for in the first place. This choice is precisely what Skip Bayless pointed out when talking about his potential union with LeBron James.

While there is no doubt about the talent Kyrie has, the market’s approach towards him might have hurt 7-time All-Star. He did achieve a lot in his past, winning a 3-point championship in 2013, winning the title in 2016 and even in 2021 he managed to put himself in the elite 40-50-90 club, which speaks volumes about his abilities.

So when Kyrie got rejected by the market, he might be on a mission to prove them wrong. With Kevin Durant still in their books, Irving does have a talented team in Brooklyn. If he can continue playing freely and stay focused on the game, Gold medalist Kyrie can prove himself yet again.

Will Kyrie Irving move to Los Angeles Lakers?

As of the current scenario, The Brooklyn Nets want both 2027 and 2029 first-round picks from the Lakers. The Lakers aren’t willing to give up these picks for the “possibility” of another title and want to secure their future first, after losing a host of picks in the Westbrook and Davis deals.

So it seems impossible for Kyrie’s LA debut this season unless either team changes their stance. But It could be a strong possibility in the 2024 season, with Kyrie being a free agent, and the Lakers definitely free from Westbrook’s hefty contract.

While the potential Cleveland Cavs Champions LeBron-Irving reunion sounds fantastic, this trade will be challenging to complete. The Nets may start the new season with Irving and Kevin Durant on their roster.
