“Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Kawhi Leonard to this?” Skip Bayless questions Spurs front office post Dejounte Murray trade

Dejounte Murray and Skip Bayless
Skip Bayless and many other San Antonio Spurs fans are sad watching their team trade away their only star Dejounte Murray. There were rumors around this trade coming in since the last week but nothing was confirmed and now it stands done. As the one-time All-Star will now be suiting up alongside Trae Young in a new uniform. Many are disappointed with this decision of the San Antonio Spurs and Skip Bayless is one of them but probably they all are forgetting that the team is rebuilding and it was necessary for the San Antonio Spurs to ship Dejounte Murray across the league. As even his contract extension was nearing and the team wouldn’t really like to spend a lot of money on their only star when they know they are going to stay down and slow for some time but will bounce back for sure.

This season Dejounte Murray averaged 21.1 points, 8.3 assists and 9.2 rebounds. These numbers are just a part of his stats, his efforts and high IQ play also add to his skillsets. As most of the time, he is able to clown the rivals and get the job done. In the last season, he single-handedly carried the not-so-good roster on his back to multiple wins and gave them hopes. He even finished second in the Most Improved Player of the Year voting this season. So that’s really a hard-to-digest fact for Skip Bayless and San Antonio Spurs fans that the front office has just given him away. In exchange the franchise has got Danilo Gallinari, three 1st-round draft picks and a draft swap. So it’s fair to say for a team rebuilding their roster to shine again the particular trade was a fair deal.
Skip Bayless and many Spurs fans know he was a future star and could have led the team to titles. But they are underestimating the greats of head coach Gregg Popovich who knows what he’s doing. Many around believe he’s about to pull one of the greatest draft moves ever. As his eyes are on Victor Wambanyama who is known as one of the best draft prospects so far and has generational talent. If things go good and on the right track the San Antonio Spurs may land him next year and then soon start the chase with their new Tim Duncan as Gregg Popovich knows what has to be done.

Skip Bayless is disappointed with San Antonio Spurs’ front office for giving away Dejounte Murray

Skip Bayless is somewhat right with his take but probably he isn’t aware of the Spurs trying to get in Victor Wambanyama and how that makes Dejounte Murray’s departure a successful trade for the team. Criticizing the front office via his personal Twitter handle he wrote: “I feel your pain, Spurs fans: The once-dynastic Spurs just traded their best player, Dejounte, only 25, for more down-the-road building blocks. Feels like last year was just a lost year ahead of a major rebuild. From Duncan/Parker/Ginobili/Kawhi to … this?”
The answer to Skip Bayless’ question mark is probably the Spurs landing a franchise star player in next year’s draft like Victor Wambanyama. As of now, they have a lot of picks to get them a deal of acquiring whatever they want. But the road now won’t be easy as they don’t have the guy who carried them last season to the play-in tournament. The future for the San Antonio Spurs though is surely bright but even Skip isn’t all wrong and as of now nothing can be said or claimed. The only option everyone around has is to wait and watch it all happen.
