Luka Doncic had a historic night in a win against the New York Knicks. The Slovenian superstar put on a show at the American Airlines Center and spoiled the Knicks’ feast. The Dallas Mavericks star did what has never been done in the NBA. He scored 60 points, had 21 rebounds, and dropped 10 dimes in the game. However, there is one person who was not impressed enough with Doncic’s performance against the Knicks, and it was Skip Bayless.
When Bayless was asked to rate Luka’s game on a scale of 1 to 10, Skip said he would rate it 8. “I’ll go to an 8 on the impressive scale. We have to take into account the opposition, which was an embarrassment,” said Bayless. “The Knicks were overmatched against Luka.” Interestingly, Dallas was down 9 points with 30 seconds left on the clock before they made the comeback. The All-Star also made a clutch shot to send the game into overtime.
But Bayless also added that perhaps he was wrong about Doncic and that he was better than he thought of him. “He is better than I thought he was,” Skip said. Skip added that Mavs made the right choice in the 2018 draft pick. Young was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2018 NBA draft with the fifth pick but later traded to the Atlanta Hawks, along with a future first-round pick, for the draft rights of Luka. Interestingly, Deandre Ayton went number 1 in the 2018 draft.
Skip Bayless says he still has a big problem with Luka Doncic’s game
Luka Doncic scored a 60 points triple-double with numbers that have not been ever done before. Before the Mavericks star, no other player ever had a 60-point triple-double in the NBA, except James Harden (60-10-11). Only Wilt Chamberlin (twice) and Elgin Baylor have had at least 20 rebounds in a 50-point triple-double.
Bayless also added that he still doesn’t like the way Doncic plays. “I still got big problems with Luka’s game,” he said. It is no secret that the NBA analyst has Michael Jordan as an Undisputed GOAT in the game of basketball. He also continuously discredits LeBron James for not having a killer scorer mentality. Doncic’s game matches James’ style of play and perhaps that is one reason Skip might object to the Mavericks star’s game.
