“Him opting-in for $47M is the most predictable move in NBA history” Skip Bayless unapologetically calls Russell Westbrook ‘OVERPAID’
Skip Bayless, Russell Westbrook
Skip Bayless, a seasoned NBA analyst, takes shots at Russell Westbrook as the former MVP elects to sign on for the $47M final year of his deal. Recent Twitter arguments between Bayless and Westbrook have been caused by the Undisputed host making fun of the Lakers point guard’s last name. For a while now, Bayless has been a vocal opponent of Westbrook, criticising the former MVP for his terrible shooting, turnovers, and ball-hogging tendencies.
Skip, when talking about sports, has no restraint, which occasionally gets him into trouble. Bayless has occasionally acted in a clearly careless manner because he doesn’t give a damn who he offends. On NBA draft night, Bayless seemed to have Westbrook as his objective. Bayless predicted that the Lakers’ selection of a player with a dubious three-point shooting percentage would “fit right in with LeBron and Westbrick.” Westbrook immediately returned and expressed his displeasure, saying “Watch what you say, please. Nothing you say here should be said to my face.”
Russell Westbrook running it back with the Lakers.
Perhaps hoping for redemption as he begins his second season wearing the purple and gold, Russell Westbrook is coming off the worst season of his career. This season, Westbrook averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists on 44.4 percent shooting. He was mostly held responsible for the Lakers’ failings despite shooting a pitiful 29.8 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the charity strip. Brodie received relentless criticism and taunts on social media for his failures. However, the Lakers front management continues to have confidence in the nine-time All-ability Star’s as they seek to run it back with him.
It was celebrated as a homecoming when Westbrook joined the LA Lakers and returned to his hometown. Many believed that he and LeBron James would lead the team to victory. However, the team’s 33-49 record and postseason absence meant that things didn’t work out as planned. His turnovers are one of the main reasons he wasn’t able to fit in with the team and play winning basketball.

Skip Bayless calls Westbrook’s player option ‘predictable’.
Russell Westbrook, the guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, has decided to exercise his option to play for $47.1 million next season, it was announced on Tuesday. Westbrook, a former NBA MVP and one of the greatest 75 players in league history, nor the Lakers made the choice official. The first guy to react to this news was none other than Bayless, calling this the most predictable move in NBA history. Westbrook’s choice didn’t surprise the former ESPN commentator in any way.
Although it would be a total blast if he did, but Westbrook will probably never appear on Undisputed. Until Westbrook proves him wrong, Bayless will carry on the entertainment himself.
Brodie must find a place where he can take charge and be the leader and in the absence of that, the Lakers’ only other option to resume winning basketball is for him to agree to sit on the bench, as the new head coach Darvin Ham suggested earlier this month. Westbrook will be put to the test during the 2022–23 season as he prepares for yet another year of scrutiny.
