The Christian Montessori School of Lake Norman in North Carolina was founded by Sonya Curry, a businesswoman, educator, and community leader. Sonya was quite aback to see the number of offers she received for her book, “Fierce Love”, when discussing it with Stephen Curry. As the inaugural “Ask The Author” presenter for Literati, Stephen got down with Sonya to inquire about the process of creating the memoir. She said: “We’re working on the book and I send it out, and I’m like, ‘Nobody wants to read this book, like really, ok. And I had nine offers to publish this book and then I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh this is real’. Then I sign a contract and bam, there it is.”
Sonya Curry is a woman who has always been strong and wise. In her own words, she tells her story here. She discusses her interests, challenges, and defining experiences, such as her lifetime commitment to study, her terribly underprivileged upbringing, and having children. Sonya and NBA star Dell Curry, whom she divorced last year after 33 years of marriage, has a daughter named Sydel Curry-Lee and a son Seth, other than Steph. Stephen Curry had a very busy summer since Davidson College, where his number was also retired, awarded him a degree and additionally, the school’s Hall of Fame acknowledged him.
