“Everybody just has to wait” Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich issues a STERN statement regarding accusations against Josh Primo

Josh Primo and Gregg Popovich

Gregg Popovich, the head coach of the Spurs shared his thoughts on the lawsuit that had been brought a day earlier by a former team psychologist against the organization and former player Josh Primo. She has filed a complaint against the Spurs franchise in addition to Primo alleging that they disregarded the incidents for ten months before acting.

Following the departure of former first-round selection Josh Primo, who was charged on Thursday with exposing himself to the team sports psychologist nine times, the San Antonio Spurs are currently in a jeopardy. According to Dr. Hillary Cauthen, a professional psychologist with legal training and credentials as well as the Spurs ignored the issue and made an attempt to conceal it. Gregg Popovich stated he believes the Spurs handled the situation appropriately by putting out a statement on the present issue but was unable to respond when asked how he learned about Primo’s misconduct.

Gregg Popovich issued a statement ahead of the Spurs’ home game against the Clippers to discuss the former team psychologist who is suing the Spurs and former first-round pick Josh Primo. In the statement, he mentioned: “I would only add that anybody that has observed the Spurs over a very long period of time knows that an accusation like this would be taken very seriously.” He also added: “I’m absolutely confident in the men and women on the managerial staff who deal and are dealing with this, did so purposefully, efficiently, promptly, and did it with the utmost care for everybody concerned.”

All about Josh Primo and his scandal

Josh Primo and the San Antonio Spurs are being sued by a former team psychologist, Dr. Hillary Cauthen. Primo, a former first-round selection allegedly exposed himself to Cauthen nine times, with the first instance taking place in December 2021 during a psychological session and was reported to the team the following month. He again exposed himself indecently in Las Vegas in 2022 while competing in the NBA Summer League. Days after exposing himself to another woman while on the team’s journey to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves, Primo was cut from the Spurs.

Cauthen joined the Spurs in 2021 and departed the organization in 2022 after her contract was not extended. She plans to bring criminal charges against Primo and after she filed a complaint, the team management instructed her to take a break and work from home. She also claims that the team informed her client that they no longer trusted her. Less than a month after the Spurs decided to exercise the third-year option on the 19-year-old Primo which guaranteed him a $4.3 million contract for the upcoming season, the team released him last week.

Gregg Popovich not revealing much after the lawsuit

Gregg Popovich also answered strongly to the accusations on Friday, declaring: “The only thing I would say to the fans is to consider the statement I just made about how we’ve handled things over many years.” In conclusion, he added: “I would imagine over time that details are going to come out. They always do. Everybody just has to wait for that.” The organization said in a statement that it did not agree with the lawsuit’s facts, particulars or timeframe but would let the legal process proceed.

Nobody genuinely knows what is accurate at this time and what isn’t. However, as Popovich emphasized the Spurs have always been a very professional team and he wholeheartedly supports them in this situation. San Antonio firmly refutes the accusations and will keep doing so as long as the investigation is ongoing, despite the fact that there is no justification for what Primo did.
