Stephen Curry finally BREAKS SILENCE about Jordan Poole’s horrific form
Steph suggests only a collective effort will get the job done against the Lakers.
Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole
Coming into the postseason, Stephen Curry and the Dubs already had the tough task of playing the Sacramento Kings. The Golden State Warriors had the series stretched to seven games versus the Kings. Moreover, the defending champs do not seem to be playing championship basketball so far into the postseason. While last season’s Finals MVP has been doing it all, the supporting cast has not been stepping up lately.
The Warriors are down 1-3 against the Los Angeles Lakers. They took a tough loss in Game 1 at home, which they responded with a blowout win in Game 2. Now on the road, the Dubs have lost both games going into a 3-1 hole. The last time Curry and the Warriors were in a similar situation was in the 2016 Conference Finals when they mounted a comeback against the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, things seem to be different this year.
Jordan Poole, the 23-year-old, had improved his game drastically going into the 2021-2022 season. Poole was a reliable backup scorer for the Warriors in the previous postseason. His fame had only risen following the 2022 championship season. Jordan Poole averaged 17 points and three assists in the 2022 playoffs while shooting 39% from beyond the arc. However, he has taken a significant step back this season, as his performance has suffered significantly. Poole hasn’t been much of a scorer compared to his previous performances.
Curry has finally addressed the situation regarding Poole’s poor contribution to the team. The four-time NBA champion suggested that it’s a team effort and it makes no sense to isolate Poole, considering they trail the series three games to one. “We all have to make adjustments, we all have to play better. You know, considering we’re in a 3-1 hole. So there’s no sense in isolating him in this situation, it’s all about collectively what we can all do to be better.”, said Curry.
JP has been putting up 11 points and 3 assists this series, with just 35% efficiency from the field.
Stephen Curry can only do so much
Apart from Poole, Klay Thompson has been underperforming as well. Stephen Curry has been performing well for the Dubs. Though players like Klay and Poole have not been consistent with their performance. Andrew Wiggins, on the other hand, has been great on his part, considering he has missed quite a considerable period of time during the regular season.
The greatest three-point shooter of all time can only do much alone against the all-time scoring leader LeBron James. Curry and the Dubs are in serious trouble as they’ll host Game 5 to try and push the series. The Lakers, on the other hand, have been a big-man team in front of the Warriors, the advantage they’ll hold regardless of an away game. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the series will pan out and whether Jordan Poole will be able to escape the rut.
