As Steph Curry makes great leaps forward in his career for the Golden State Warriors, the truth is that only a few years are left in his illustrious career. As he turns 35 soon, the latter part of his career has already started. According to him, newer players that will take his place have already begun to emerge. One such player, according to him, is Luka Doncic.
“Luka’s like the guy, obviously, that’s right on the precipice of all those accolades,” Curry said. “Just what he’s about as a player. [It’s about] that threshold of just, ‘how do you crack through?’ I hope it’s not now, but when you play against him, you can feel it.” Curry has, time and again, while playing against Doncic, seen how special he is, talent-wise. Speaking on Gil’s Arena hosted by Gilbert Arenas, Curry continued the conversation and clarified how Luka “is the guy.”
Doncic, although just 24 years old, has accomplished things that many are yet to achieve in their careers. In his small five-year career in the NBA, he has had four All-NBA First Teams and four All-Star team selections, which is massive for a player his age.
Luka Doncic ready to lead the Mavericks with a revamped roster and Steph Curry’s endorsement
Luka Doncic will be coming into his sixth season with the best physical state a player can hope for. Apart from playing for Slovenia in the FIBA World Cup, he had all his time devoted to the new 2023-24 NBA season. Although the poor team he got in the 2022-23 season did not add much to his reputation, he will look to turn it around this year.
The Dallas Mavericks have re-signed Kyrie Irving and have added newer names, along with re-signing other old ones too, like Seth Curry, Grant Willaims, Richaun Holmes, Dereck Lively II, Omax Prosper, Dante Exum, and Derrick Jones Jr. With all these players under the bag, the Mavericks looks like a complete team.
As Steph Curry believes in Doncic’s ability to “run the league,” he has the chance to prove his mettle with a great team at his behest this year. Luka Doncic averaged 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.0 assists last year, which are extraordinary numbers for a young player. The Mavericks, as well as Doncic, will surely eye the ring this year around.
