Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, the sharp-shooting point guard who has redefined the NBA’s three-point game, recently reflected on his basketball future as he prepares for his 15th NBA season at age 35. Despite having a skill set that might let him compete with ease into his forties, Curry gave fans a glimpse into his thinking about when he might call it a career.
Speaking with Gilbert Arenas, Curry said, “I never imagined myself being the forty-plus dude trying to hold on for dear life. But who knows what my body will look like or feel like at that point? I have three years left on my deal, including this year, and then kind of figure it out from there.” Adding a touch of humor to the conversation, he said, “I ain’t skipping out to go play golf just yet.”
However, it’s worth noting that even Curry’s unparalleled shooting ability can’t always compensate for age. The 2023 playoffs served as a proof. Curry’s numbers – averaging 26.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game on a 43.3% shooting rate were impressive. However, there were moments in the series when he struggled to find his own shot, hinting that even legends have their vulnerable moments.

The Warriors’ big three in 2023
The famed Warriors’ Big Three – Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson have been the pillars of the franchise for years. But as the 2023 season unfolded, signs of change were evident.

Klay Thompson’s journey has been marked with resilience, but recent stats, especially his 16.2 points per game on a 34.3% shooting rate in the playoff elimination against the LA Lakers, signal that the shooting guard’s prime might be behind him.
However, even with these challenges, the sync of the trio remains unparalleled. They’ve created a legacy of complementary basketball where Green’s defense, Thompson’s clutch performances, especially during Curry’s absence, and Curry’s dominance when needed, make them an unstoppable force.
Whatever the future holds, one thing is certain: the legacy of the Warriors’ Big Three will go on forever in NBA history.
