Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors came off a championship season in 2022 with hopes of repeating the same in the 2023 season and solidifying themselves as one of the best teams ever. However, they lost in the second round to the Los Angeles Lakers due to multiple mishaps before and during the season. This left fans anxious about whether they would ever reach the Finals again.

Steph made it clear they were coming back for the championship during an appearance on Gil’s Arena hosted by Gilbert Arenas, where he stated that despite being the defending champions in the 2023 season, they were now hunting another championship and no longer had a target on their back, “We’re the hunter now, not the hunted… this year’s the run.”

Fans hoped Curry and Co. would return to their peak form and win their fifth championship. With Curry and Draymond Green locked into long-term contracts and hopes of signing Klay Thompson to an extension, the goal was to keep the BIG3 together and give them ample chances to win championships and retire with the team that drafted all three.

The debate over who is the best point guard ever has always revolved around Steph Curry and Magic Johnson. This debate, previously deemed “lazy” by Warriors star Draymond Green due to their distinct playstyles, gained clarity from Steph recently.

During an appearance on Gil’s Arena, Curry was asked if he considered himself the best point guard ever. He agreed and said the conversation boiled down to him and Johnson. He acknowledged Magic’s incredible resume and mentioned that it felt surreal even to be compared to him. However, he still took the stance that he had to consider himself in the conversation.

“Yes, It’s me and Magic. That’s the conversation? Obviously, I have to answer that way, but I really feel like Magic’s résumé is ridiculous,” Curry told Arenas. “So the fact that we’re even having that conversation, that’s a place I never thought I’d be in.”
