Stephen A Smith doesn’t think it is “too soon” to talk about Ja Morant winning the scoring title. The reputed journalist believes it is only a matter of time before the Memphis Grizzlies star surpasses Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant in scoring for this current season.
Ja Morant has been absolutely tearing the league apart in the 2022 season of the NBA. The 4-1 team in the Western Conference is thriving under Ja Morant. Stephen A Smith in a very recent episode of NBA Countdown spoke about how it isn’t too soon to debate if the Memphis star with 35.3 PPG could surpass the scoring title favorites, Kevin Durant (33.2 PPG), and Luka Doncic (36.3).

“I don’t think it is too soon because we are talking about Ja Morant and he can do what he wants to offensively,” said Smith on the NBA on ESPN segment. “He is a spectacular talent, he is box office, he knows it and he responds to being the marquee,” added Smith. Stephen A Smith believes players like Morant will here on always be in the conversation for the league leader in scoring.
In five games this season, he has played, Morant has scored a whopping 163. He is only 3 points behind the superstar Kevin Durant from Brooklyn Nets. In the five games he’s played, Morant has three 30+ points games and two games with 20+ points.

Recently Kevin Durant went up against the star Ja Morant in their regular season meeting at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. KD’s side got handed a defeat from Morant and his team as they outscored the star-studded Nets team by 10 points.
Morant was one of the main orchestrators of this victory for Memphis. Playing against Brooklyn Nets after the draft of Ja Morant has bought nothing but wins for the Memphis Grizzlies side. They are yet to lose. ESPN asked Kevin Durant his thoughts about the Morant and he had some high praise.
“He is a unique player, a lot of athleticism, and creativity out there,” said KD. “He’s an incredible player man doing some things that we’ve never seen before,” added KD. Durant then went on to compare Ja to the likes of Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, and Allen Iverson.
