“I think LA Lakers should seriously consider trading King James” Stephen A. Smith goes all out to reason why LeBron James should be out of purple and gold

“I think LA Lakers should seriously consider trading King James” Stephen A. Smith goes all out to reason why LeBron James should be out of purple and gold

LeBron James is the face of the league and is usually debated as the GOAT over NBA legend Michael Jordan. The 16 time All-Star has not had his superstar game in the 2021-22 season. LeBron in himself continued to play like a superstar and defied laws of aging with his poster dunks and blocks at age 37. But the Lakers’ roster for the 2021-22 season was not quite complete despite having a star studded team.

Coming into the 2021-22 season, in a vote between the General Managers of the teams, it was found that Brooklyn Nets had bagged the most votes as the favorites to take home the championship. Lakers came second in the vote. But the Lakers did not translate those hopes and expectations into reality on court.

Stephen A Smith in his analysis was quite right to say that no contract value does justice to what LeBron brings to the court and what he has done in the league. There is no doubt in the fact that LeBron James will go down in the history book as one of the greatest of all time alongside Michael Jordan.

But his season in the Lakers’ in 2021-22 did not seem to emphasis on it. With LeBron James growing older, it is important that team capitalizes on his knowledge, understanding and experience of the game to make plays. LeBron can be a part of the play, but expecting a 37 year old LeBron to carry the team is not quite right in itself.

The roster for 2021-22 season might be star studded but it had way too may fallouts in itself. Anthony Davis continued to prove his doubters right by being injured for most of the season. Russel Westbrook failed to do much good either by contributing in turnovers and bad plays.

A team with stars might be strong on paper but it does not quite translate the same way on court. The Lakers team is old and needs changes. With a team filled with men who are veterans, there is little space for young talent to shine. A perfect team constitutes the right proportion of veteran players and young talents. It is only then that the team as whole can capitalize on the experience, talent and athleticism to win games.

Stephen A Smith thereby is not wrong when he says, “I think LA Lakers should seriously consider trading King James”.
