“This is on the verge of a disaster” Stephen A. Smith issues stern warning to LeBron James, Lakers after 0-2 start

Stephen A. Smith, a veteran sports broadcaster, was harsh in his assessment of the Los Angeles Lakers and blamed LeBron James among others after the club went 0-2 on the season after defeats to the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers. Smith reinforced what everyone else has been saying about the Lakers’ early season struggles: their main problem is 3-point shooting, which has to be addressed as soon as possible.

While the Lakers are playing harder and more athletically than last season, their shooting troubles are preventing them from getting anything going, said the ESPN host. Even Darvin Ham’s system, which Smith lauded for eliciting “energy and zest” from the club, isn’t enough to propel them into title contention.

He further stated how the Lakers are nothing short of a ticking time bomb that’s waiting to explode and should no one from the management take action and resolve their woes.LeBron James and Anthony Davis, they’re kicking it out to open shooters y’all, they’re making open shots [and] they’re missing open shots. That is not something you can rectify. If you can’t shoot, you can’t shoot. You better get a deal done, because this is on the verge of a disaster,” Smith said of the Lakers.

In the past, several entities with the intent to mock LeBron James have referred to him as LeGM. But, evidently, Stephen A. Smith is so angry with the King that he didn’t even consider giving him the honour. Instead, he simply yelled this out loud and clear during his time on First Take. “You had Kyle Kuzma… You had Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. They were members of the championship team, who by the way can put up buckets from the perimeter.”

You were one of the people that encouraged the Lakers to unload that, so you could get a brother in Russell Westbrook that you yourself was on the court in Houston, in the bubble, in the playoffs against them saying he with us. Every time he had the ball.” Stephen A. Smith sure does love being dramatic. However, he may not be completely wrong on this one. Despite the Lakers’ playoff run coming to a disappointing end in 2021, most of their roster from back then was still the one that was 2020 champions. So frankly, it never really made sense for the organization to break up the band as quickly as they did.
