After Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were reported to be in the best shape for the Brooklyn Nets entering playoffs, many expected that this particular team to dominate the proceedings in the playoffs. However, in their very first round series against the resilient and resurging Boston Celtics, the team from Barclays Center have lost both their away encounters. As a result of which Stephen A. Smith has been forced to blame Kyrie Irving.

The 2016 NBA Champ wasn’t a part of the team during the first half of the season and only returned as a part-time until the very last month of the regular season. With either Durant or Irving struggling to make an impact together against the harmonious Celtics, Smith has condemned the latter guard for his actions. What did he state? Take a look below-

In the latest episode of First take, the sports media personality and analyst stated, “The person I’m holding most responsible for all of these is Kyrie Irving. When you wanna look at Kevin Durant and say, “he looked exhausted.” Let’s say, for example, he may not have looked rattled, and instead somebody might say he looked exhausted.

“Well, why he look exhausted? Could it be because he’s had to carry this load all season long by his own damn self? Could that be possible?”

Smith added on Irving, “I’m holding no one more accountable than Kyrie Irving. And then Kyrie is the one that sat up there and said, ‘for the record, we don’t really need a coach.’ Why is an inexperienced head coach your head coach for a championship contender? Because Kyrie pushed for it, and KD signed off on it.”

Given that the action of this series moves to Brooklyn in Game 3, Irving would be backed by the home crowd to make a significant impact. Comparatively with no heckling fans booing him on every play, will the ‘most-skilled’ guard be able to lift Kevin Durant, Nets to comeback in the first round series? Remains to be seen.
