Los Angeles Lakers have a new addition to their team in the form of Patrick Beverley. The Lakers decided to trade him in to build up their defense which was in shambles last season. Many think this inclusion will make the LA Lakers pay a hefty price as Patrick shares a history of clashes with his fellow teammate, Russell Westbrook. Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith feels LA Lakers might have made a wrong decision by trading Patrick in.

Stephen A. Smith said, “I think that’s the challenge of them co-existing,” Smith said. “I think eventually you’ll have to find movement for Russell Westbrook, I don’t see this combination working for the Lakers.” He made these comments while talking on the show “First Take.” On the same front, Kendrick Perkins seems to have agreed that this is the best buy LA Lakers could make, counter-attacking what Stephen Smith was trying to say. This is not the first time both analysts have disagreed, proving that these two have contrasting thoughts.

Kendrick Perkins believes that having Patrick and Russell in the starting line-up will only strengthen the Lakers’ defense, and they will be a force to appraise with the likes of LeBron James on the team. In contrast, Stephen Smith believes that having these on the board will be useless and sink the Laker’s ship, and it will only cost the Lakers’ management heavily and be a headache for them.

Two arch-rivals, Patrick and Russell, will be playing for the same team now. They have had several fiery moments in the past playing for two different teams, but this time, they will have to work in tandem to take their team over the line. Many people have raised doubts over Patrick’s inclusion in the team. It will be an uphill task for the LA Lakers management to get them to work together. Only time will tell whether this formula turns out to be a boon or a bane for the Los Angeles Lakers team.
