Russell Westbrook has arguably one of the greatest names in the league up to date. We have witnessed multiple players rise above the ones formerly known as the greatest in a specific aspect and the veteran point guard has not fallen short of legendary. This season he took his talents to the LA Lakers but they were not too successful.
Mr. Triple-Double is highly respected for the athleticism he brings into every game. Through 2016 and 2020, the player averaged a triple-double with his lowest averages being 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. His highest numbers were 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game. But one of his biggest weaknesses has been his reliability on shooting the ball at any given time, which has been a challenge for the Lakers.

Russell Westbrook was traded to the LA Lakers from the Washington Wizards with only a year left on his contract. The player earned $44.2 million averaging 18.3 points, 7.1 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game. Not quite satisfying coming from a former MVP who was thought of being the key towards LeBron James’ fifth ring or Brodie’s first.
Russ could become a free agent this off-season and find another compatible situation for himself. But he also has the option of signing with LA for one season worth $47.1 million. But how effective will his presence be after this past season? The team recently signed Darvin Ham as their new head coach who has high hopes of the point guard running it back. Russell Westbrook may not have been a good fit for LA. In a recent press conference on hiring their new head coach, he was in presence showing his support. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that both, Ham and Westbrook are looking forward to working with each other.
But it still is not confirmed whether the player will continue with his current team or not. Stephen A Smith reacted to this very ecstatically calling Russ to his favorite team, the New York Knicks. “I’m going to tell Russell Westbrook right now on national television. I’m gonna show my support for Russell Westbrook and validate it to y’all. I’d give up everybody for him with the Knicks. EVERYBODY! I’d take Russell Westbrook in a Knicks uniform today!”
