“AD looks better when injured” 4x champ Stephen Curry humiliates Anthony Davis with nasty fake and finish in season opener
Stephen Curry and Anthony Davis
The Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors started their new season on a grand note with a performance that they hope will lead to their fifth in nine years, defeating the visiting Los Angeles Lakers 123-109 on Opening Night in the NBA on Tuesday. Andrew Wiggins had 20 points and Klay Thompson had 18 as the Warriors, who started their championship season with a road win over the Lakers a year ago, steadily pulled away over the final three quarters. Curry hit four three-pointers in 13 attempts, while Wiggins hit four more in six fewer attempts, leading a Golden State onslaught that saw seven different players hit three-pointers.
Stephen Curry also had six rebounds, seven assists, and four steals in his game. Jordan Poole was the fourth Warrior in double figures, scoring 12 points and giving out seven assists. The Lakers’ double-doubles came from James (14 rebounds) and Westbrook (11 rebounds). James fell two assists short of a triple-double, finishing with a game-high eight. Kendrick Nunn scored 13 points off the bench for the Lakers, who finished the regular season with 20 fewer wins than Golden State. The Lakers made only 10 of 40 3-point attempts.
Stephen Curry sends Anthony Davis to the shops with his fake
Stephen Curry is still the best shooter in the NBA, but don’t overlook his ability to break through main defenses and easily get into the lane. He isn’t known for his athletic or explosive finishes at the rim, but he makes up for it with his craftiness. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player shot just 4-of-13 from beyond the arc in the Lakers game, but he finished with a game-high 33 points on 10-of-22 shooting from the field and a perfect 9-of-9 from the free line. Curry and the Warriors went about their business, as usual, scoring only 38 points in the paint.
The Warriors defeated LeBron James and their team 123-109, and they did so in style from tip to finish. In that vein, here’s Curry teasing Anthony Davis’ defense in the fourth quarter. Davis had a tremendous offensive night, finishing with 27 points on 10-of-22 shooting, but it was evident that the Lakers would need more than AD and LeBron to carry the club.
