Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry had a great 2022 season. Not only did he win his 4th NBA title but was named Finals MVP in the process. He won both inaugural MVP awards, the All-Star MVP award – named after late Kobe Bryant and Western Conference finals MVP award – named after Magic Johnson. But his MVP season continued as he received yet another honor on September 1st.

Curry was awarded the key to the city of Charlotte in a ceremony that took place at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center. Curry has close ties with Charlotte since living there for years, having also graduated from Charlotte Christian School.

Overwhelmed by the honor, Curry spoke of his ties with Charlotte. He said, “Charlotte is in my blood. It’s in my DNA. I’m so proud. When anybody asks, ‘Where are you from?’ I wasn’t born here, but I am from Charlotte. Best 21 years of my life — spent it here, and I carry it with me everywhere I go.”

Steph Curry didn’t stop there as he reveal the team that he would consider playing for if wasn’t at the Golden State Warriors, to surprise the Hornets fans. He said, “I’ve always said I wanted to finish my career at Golden State because of how much it means to me and the experiences and teammates and the journey that we’ve been on.”

Clearing the air before any speculations starts, Steph quickly added, “Everybody asks me, ‘You wanna play one year for the Hornets and come back?’ … I am not breaking any news right now. I’m not making any promises. All I would say though is if there was a team that I did want to play for that was not named the Warriors, that would be it.”

Dell Curry, Steph’s father, played for Charlotte for 10 years, when young Curry was just making his debut in the world. And then the association continued for 21 more years as Steph said in his comments.

Curry was drafted by the Golden State Warriors as the seventh overall pick in the 2009 Draft. He has played all 13 of his NBA seasons with the franchise and won many accolades during that period. It was personally the best result for Stephen Curry and also his franchise.

Very recently, Curry had a massive season and finished with 31.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in the finals. He was 43.7% from the 3-point range in the Finals and took home the first-ever Finals MVP award of his career. His long-range shooting certainly affected the game being played nowadays, as we can see more long-range attempts by franchises.

Rewarded with the Most 3-pointers record for his efficiency, Baby faced assassin not only destroyed opponent’s defenses and changed their plans – opening up the game for his team. After winning three NBA titles in 2015, 2017, and 2018, Stephen Curry won his fourth NBA championship when the Golden State Warriors bested the Boston Celtics 4-2 in the 2022 NBA Finals.

Curry is signed up with the Warriors for another four years, until the end of the 2025-26 season. Curry will be 38 by the time his current contract with the Warriors comes to a close, and his form is still looking immaculate on his shooting to encourage him to go for extensions.

8-time All-Star Steph Curry and Golden State Warriors seem inseparable entities, as the two-time league MVP, Curry has also been named in the NBA’s 75th-anniversary team. He fits perfectly in the franchise’s offensive and defensive format, which looks like a perfect combo for both of them and an entertaining one for sure.
