“He doesn’t need any teaching points” Stephen Curry suggests Klay Thompson could burst into form at anytime ahead of Game 3 vs Celtics

Klay Thompson has yet to make an impact in the NBA Finals. The Golden State Warriors’ sniper is well aware of the situation and
he doesn’t need to be reminded of his 10-of-33 shooting against the Boston Celtics thus far which includes his Game 2 performance, in which he shot 1-for-8 from beyond the arc. Stephen Curry knows Klay’s skills better than any other Warriors teammate. He can hear the countdown after a few bad shooting nights, which is why he believes, with reason, that an eruption is on the way — even against the league’s best defense.

Stephen Curry, as expected, continued his incredible performance by ripping the Celtics for a game-high 29 points on Monday, tying the NBA Finals at 1-1 as the series returns to Boston for a Game 3 on Wednesday. In Games 1 and 2, Curry averaged 31.5 points per game. Klay Thompson‘s all-around performances have helped GSW reach the NBA Finals despite his ups and downs in the postseason. On TNT’s “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” Shaquille O’Neal discussed how the Warriors could win it all this season if Curry and Thompson could get ‘hot’ and put the Celtics away for good.

Warriors need more from struggling Thompson.

Klay Thompson’s underwhelming performance on Sunday (11 points, three rebounds, one assist) has raised speculation about whether he will deliver in the NBA Finals. Throughout the two NBA 2022 Finals games, Klay Thompson has averaged 13 points per game on 30% field goal percentage and a 27% three-point percentage. Stephen Curry, his backcourt teammate, is unconcerned about this as Curry remarked in a recent interview that he expects Klay to bounce back while praising the Celtics’ defense on the sharpshooter. Thompson is expected to snap back and deliver a crucial effort at some point throughout the series, according to Curry.

Thompson was sidelined for two full seasons due to a pair of devastating foot injuries, but he pushed tirelessly to return to the court. Some questioned if he would ever fully recover, just as some questioned whether the Warriors’ trio of Thompson, Draymond Green, and Steph Curry would ever return to the Finals after a couple of disappointing seasons. Klay Thompson averages 20.6 points per game and shot nearly 50% from beyond the arc in his playoffs career and therefore the Warriors hope for Klay to put on a show for the rest of the Finals.
