“You have still got a lot to learn kiddo” Stephen Curry toys past Jaylen Brown with brutal move in Game 1

Stephen Curry leaves Jaylen Brown scrambling

The 3-point God descended on the court and mesmerized us with his divine shooting ability, Stephen Curry even humbled Jaylen Brown during his stellar display on Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Steph Curry dropped an NBA Finals record 21 first quarter points and it appeared like the Warriors were poised to keep their perfect home record intact. The Celtics took control of the game in the fourth quarter, going on a 20-0 run that stunned the Warriors, 120-108, in San Francisco, taking a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals, in a full-blooded contest where each team traded blows, a game full of crazy momentum shifts.

The Warriors looked comfortable in the driving seat way as they enjoyed a 12-point lead entering the fourth quarter. However, Jaylen Brown and Al Horford exploded in the 4th quarter, with incredible contributions by Marcus Smart and Derrick White led to the Celtics, outscoring GSW 40-16 in the final period.

Steph Curry made a 3-pointer for the first basket of the game, which started a historic first quarter in which he made six 3s and scored 21 points. The six 3s were an NBA Finals record for the most ever made in a single quarter by one player, and the 21 points were the most a player has had in a Finals quarter since Michael Jordan in 1993. The Boston Celtics endured it all and still emerged as victors, a team-effort.

The talismans for both sides shone bright as Stephen Curry led all scorers with a game-high 34 points while Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole combined for 44 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists of their own. In the end, that was not enough to overcome the performance from Jaylen Brown, Al Horford and Derrick White as the road team was able to steal home-court advantage in Game 1.Al Horford, playing in his first Finals, paced the Celtics with 26 points and Jaylen Brown had 24 points and Derrick White added 21 points off the bench.

Steph can create his own shot with those smooth handles, as he put Jaylen Brown on skates in the 3rd quarter, as he floated the ball for a exquisite finish, extending the Warriors lead to 73-64. Curry’s 21 first-quarter points are the most in a Finals quarter since Michael Jordan had 22 in the fourth quarter of Game 4 against Phoenix in 1993. Curry and Jaylen have had bad blood in the past, when Jaylen tried trash talking in his rookie year. Steph finished the night with 34 points, 21 of which came in the first quarter, and shot 7-of-14 from behind the arc. He added five rebounds and five assists in his 38 minutes. Despite Curry’s hot hand, the Warriors stumbled in the fourth quarter hard.

Although the Warriors have a lot of experience on their side, this Celtics squad is not the one who would give up without a fight. In Game 1 of the series, it was proved as the Celts dominated the Dubs and registered a 12-point victory. Now, there were many reasons for the Warriors’ defeat, but the biggest one was poor defense from the Warriors. Boston is looking to capture its record-breaking 18th title, which would move the Celtics past the Lakers, and now is just three wins away from doing it, thanks to a collective team display by them.

Boston twice recovered from double-digit deficits either side of halftime when it looked as if the Warriors were poised to cut loose, not even a dazzling shooting display by the Warriors’ Stephen Curry. When the Warriors were declared the underdogs in the series, many fans were left astonished. But looking at their performance in the opening game, maybe the experts were right after all. Curry might’ve embarrassed Brown, 1v1, but Brown had the last laugh in Game 1.
