“They’re not true contenders!” Stephen Curry’s Warriors ‘too late to the party’ says Kendrick Perkins on potential playoff run
Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors generally turn things up entering the playoffs.

Kendrick Perkins believes Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are too late to push for a deep playoff run
The Golden State Warriors already have been the best team in the league for the past decade. This season, their core trio of superstars are available and healthy, and have a decent bench to support them.
However, according to Kendrick Perkins, it is a little too late for Stephen Curry and his Warriors to have another go at a deep playoff run. While discussing the Warriors on ESPN’s First Take, Perkins was asked if the Warriors’ recent run has indicated another strong playoff run.

He responded by saying;
Hell no. They're too late to the party. Are they playing some exceptional basketball right now, yes they are. But at the end of the day, they are playing catch up for where they started off. I look at all these teams that are in the top of the West, I can't see them getting past those teams. I just don't believe the Warriors are true contenders.Kendrick Perkins said
Perkins feels the Warriors need more time for their younger stars to develop if they want to make a push for another title. As of right now, the youngsters lack the experience to handle the heat of the playoffs.
Maybe Perkins has a point here, that is, the Warriors’ lineup has youngsters Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski on them. When playoffs come about, the Warriors switch gears. This means, most players will have to adjust to the heat and make changes to their game. As role players, it is easier on youngsters. However, as starters, the heat gets too much.
Perkins suggests that this season is too soon for the youngsters. Next year they will be better equipped to progress further. Stephen Curry and the rest of his superstar teammates alone cannot take the Warriors deep into the playoffs.
Can the Golden State Warriors prove Kendrick Perkins wrong this season?
The Golden State Warriors are heating up at the right moment. They have a record of 13-5, counting tonight’s loss against the Chicago Bulls. If they can maintain a similar record in the last 20 regular season games, they could possibly move up a few notches in the playoff standings.
That momentum could continue into the playoffs. With the way Stephen Curry and co. typically heat up in the playoffs, and all of that could contribute to a deep run. However, fulfilling this situation depends on Curry’s younger starters maintaining their form. No amount of Curry heroics will be enough without a good supporting cast.
So the Golden State Warriors may continue this momentum into the postseason. But, as per Kendrick Perkins, that inexperience the youngsters have could derail their plans.
