“I love that dude” Stephen Curry was reportedly excited to pair up with Kevin Durant amid rumors of latter returning to Warriors
Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry
Many questioned if the Golden State Warriors might be interested in a reunion with star player Kevin Durant while the Brooklyn Nets were investigating potential deals for him. Golden State point guard Stephen Curry told Rolling Stone’s Matt Sullivan that the club would have welcomed Durant back, saying, “Hell, yeah!” when asked whether it was even considered this summer.
The Nets and Durant finally reconciled and agreed to work together in the future. Curry stated that if Golden State attempted to convince Brooklyn to trade him, he would have had no objections. Kevin Durant could quickly transform any large club into a title contender. Despite what transpired in Brooklyn this summer, the Nets are regarded as one of the greatest teams in the NBA due to the presence of three explosive players in KD, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons.
Kevin Durant’s fallout with the Brooklyn Nets
After getting swept in the playoffs last season Kevin Durant had shocked the NBA world by giving an ultimatum to the organization in a meeting with owner Joe Tsai in London of either riding with him or the Head Coach Steve Nash and General Manager Sean Marks. The Nets initially didn’t make any decision public but were seen favoring the coaching staff and management of the team as they tested Kevin Durant in the market but weren’t able to get any satisfying deal.
Last season, the Nets suffered with off-court issues and were swept out of the playoffs in the first round. In contrast, the Warriors went on to win their fourth NBA championship in the previous eight years, and Curry was awarded Finals MVP for the first time in his storied career. However, the Nets have since come very far and Kevin Durant is all set to start this year in the Nets
While Durant’s trade request this offseason may have harmed his reputation in some circles, Curry still loves his former teammate. “I think he is misunderstood,” Curry said. “I think he has had certain things happen in his life that hurt his ability to trust people around him, in a sense of making him feel safe at all times. So, all of those things, I understand, having played with him and gotten to know him. I love that dude.”
