Steve Kerr, Michael Jordan, and Stephen Curry
It’s no breaking news that Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter in the history of basketball. He is one of those players in modern basketball, who is a threat at any point on the floor. The game against the Washington Wizards was a testament to his greatness and the wide recognition of greatness that transcends teams’ competitions. Golden State Warriors head coach compared Curry to Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.
After the game against the Wizards, head coach Steve Kerr compared Stephen Curry to the Bulls’ great Michael Jordan. Comparing the two greats, Kerr said, “He is the modern M.J. he transcends the game, he elicits an emotion from people because he is so awe-inspiring with his play that no matter we go,” Kerr said. “There are people (who) are cheering for him and can’t wait to see him perform,” added Kerr.
Explaining his point, Kerr said that when Jordan used to play in opponents building on road games, half of the arena used to be filled with number #23 jerseys. Now when the Warriors play road games the arena is usually filled with Blue and Yellow #30 jerseys. According to Kerr, in terms of a wide fan base, Curry has the same impact as Jordan in modern basketball.
Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole break Washington Wizards back in a high-scoring game
Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole set the arena on fire against the Washington Wizards. Curry scored game-high 41 points as he made 12 of 28 shots from the field and 6 of 15 shots from the three-point line for the Warriors. The young stalwart Poole scored 32 points for the Warriors. He shot 12 of 20 shots from the field and shot made 7 of 13 shots from beyond the arc. Both Poole and Curry kept on hitting the Wizards’ defense since the first quarter and kept the Warriors in the game.
The Wizards had a lot of struggle defensively on the floor both against Curry and Poole. Against the lacking length of the Warriors, Kristaps Porzings took full advantage. He scored a team-high 32 points for the Wizards, not enough to get over the Warriors piling up points on the board. The Wizards hung on to the game till the 3rd quarter. But the 4th quarter led to their downfall and ultimately they lost the game.
The defending champions are not the best team in the league right now but come playoff time, they can be one of the most dangerous teams in the league. Their perimeter offense is one of the best in the league and when the paint gets difficult to penetrate, Stephen Curry and the shooters on the roster can pose a serious threat to the opponents. Even if they get around 6th or the 4th seed in the Western Conference that would make them a serious contender for another championship.
