Nikola Jokic seemed extremely stressed about attending the Denver Nuggets’ championship parade, as he wanted to get back home. The Serbian won the Finals MVP award after his stellar performance in the series against the Miami Heat. Despite helping the Mile-High City win its first-ever NBA championship, the Joker showed no excitement about being part of a championship parade. He looked desperate to get back home, but it is highly unlikely that the organization will let the two-time MVP fly back before celebrating the triumph with the fans.
When asked in his post-game press conference if he was looking forward to the parade, Nikola Jokic asked the media team when it was and said, “No, I need to go home.” Just minutes after securing the Larry O’Brien trophy, Jokic had also expressed in another courtside interview that he was happy that the job was done and that he can go home. He later confirmed that he had a horse race that he needed to get to, which is why he was in a hurry to fly back.
The 28-year-old was composed after the win and first shook hands with the Miami Heat players before getting into celebrations. He did, however, showcase some enthusiasm with his teammates as he threw his teammate Jamal Murray into the swimming pool and drank some champagne to celebrate the victory.

Nikola Jokic led from the front for the Nuggets
Jokic averaged 30 PPG, 13.5 RPG, and 9.5 APG throughout the 2023 Playoffs. He was dominant on the offensive end of the floor and made things easier for his teammates to score.
Speaking about the team and when he felt like they were ready to win it all, Jokic said, “To be honest in the beginning, yes if we look at the schedule, the last four games, we lost to Detroit, to Houston, at home somebody, I think Chicago was struggling and they beat us in our home, but like I said, you need to fail, you need to be bad, you need to lose, then you gonna figure it out how to win, it’s a team that wins and I really truly believe in that.”
The Denver Nuggets‘ victory has helped Nikola Jokic cement his place as an all-time great among centers. He is still 28 and has a lot of basketball left in him. With the likes of Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, the team can certainly compete for a few more years. However, if they are to go on a similar run, they will have to keep their core together as that is what has helped them achieve success in the postseason.
