“Get the F*CK out of this system,” Suns part owner goes all out to address the TOXIC workplace condition amid Robert Sarver’s controversy

“Get the F*CK out of this system,” Suns part owner goes all out to address the TOXIC workplace condition amid Robert Sarver’s controversy

Robert Sarver and Jahm Nafaji

Phoenix Suns vice chairman Jahm Nafaji on Thursday called for team owner Robert Sarver’s resignation as he wants him to stay out of the system. Just like many other fans and executives around the league, even Jahm Nafaji wants Robert Sarver kicked out as no one wants to be around such a guy. He is the owner of the second biggest stake in the team. Even though he isn’t in the country right now, he has addressed the issue and like every other time is trying to bring in a major change. Like LeBron James and several others, he isn’t satisfied with the punishment announced by the league.

Jahm Nafaji has been an important part of the controversial story since the start. Last year, when the allegations were reported, he refused to support Robert Sarver and didn’t sign any supporting statement or report. Instead, he gave out a statement, talking about the allegations against the majority owner, where he said: “The conduct he is alleged to have committed has stunned and saddened me and is unacceptable…The well-being and safety of every Suns employee…and stakeholder is first and foremost our priority…” He also mentioned that he personally is committed to helping eradicate any form of racism, sexism, and bias.

Robert Sarver has denied all such allegations and even called it out as “false reporting”. The NBA decided to check on him and went for a detailed and independent investigation on him and the Suns. He was under the scanner for inappropriate workplace conduct for years and the investigation proved all those allegations right. The lid was blown off all his wrongdoings and ill-mannerisms.

Robert Sarver, as of now, stands suspended for an entire season from NBA and WNBA. He has been fined $10 million by the league due to inappropriate workplace conduct. The league also wants him to “complete training program focused on respect and appropriate workplace conduct”. But this isn’t enough for Jahm Nafaji and several others as they want him kicked out of the league and they aren’t wrong while demanding that.

Reports have revealed how bad of an owner Sarver was. In addition, he was a racist and bully. He is also accused of using the “N-Word” at least five times on different occasions. Robert was also booked for racism and sexual misconduct with several Suns and Mercury staff members. Over 70 victims have spoken out against him. The investigation also stated that Robert was also “engaged in instances of inequitable conduct toward female employees” and “made many sex-related comments in the workplace.” So kicking such a guy out of the business is not wrong. And, Jahm Nafaji demanding him to resign in his open letter to the employees and players of the Phoenix Suns is very right.

Jahm Nafaji in his open letter to everyone around the league and especially the one in the Suns’ system has demanded the resignation of owner Robert Sarver. In his letter, he spoke out on behalf of everyone whose life was impacted. He also deeply thanked everyone who shared their experience and made the road easy. Further, coming to the point and trying to knock the owner out of the league he wrote: “There should be zero tolerance for discriminatory actions of any level, in any setting, let alone a professional one. There is no question that the findings determined that Mr. Sarver’s lewd, misogynist and racist conduct had a substantial negative impact on you and has no place in our society…”

Further, Jahm Nafaji mentioned: “The fact that anyone would find him fit to lead because of this “ownership” position is forgetting that NBA teams belong to the communities they serve…I cannot in good judgment sit back and allow our children and future generations of fans think that this behavior is tolerated because of wealth and privilege. Therefore, in accordance with my commitment to helping eradicate any form of racism, sexism and bias, as Vice Chairman of the Phoenix Suns, I am calling for the resignation of Robert Sarver…”

Jahm Nafaji is very right with his take and many around the globe are riding with him. He has also mentioned that he isn’t interested in becoming the managing partner but will make sure that things from now onwards go well for the Suns. As of now, the Suns have named Sam Garvin and a different vice chairman to serve as interim governor during Sarver’s suspension who has a good chance of getting kicked out of the league soon.
