After yet another disappointing exit in the second round of the 2023 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs at the hands of the Boston Celtics, the 76ers find themselves in the midst of a cloud of uncertainty. As per most recent reports, Harden’s relationship with Philadelphia 76ers general manager Daryl Morey has soured after ‘The Beard’ requested a trade. Harden is keen on a move to the Los Angeles Clippers, where he would get the opportunity to reunite with long-time friend Russell Westbrook.

However, as per Chris Mannix, senior writer for Sports Illustrated, there seems to be no trade market for Harden at the moment. The Sixers are working with Harden to find a trade partner, but will also be keen to get something great in return for their star guard as well.

Ever since he left the Rockets, Harden’s game has been on the decline. While he is still an elite playmaker, he has struggled to score the basketball, especially at times when it matters the most. When the Sixers traded for Harden, they expected him and ‘The Process’ Joel Embiid to be the next Kobe-Shaq-like duo and bring a title to the city of Philadelphia.

Unfortunately, in the two seasons they’ve played together, that hasn’t happened yet. While Embiid has certainly lived up to the hype, winning an MVP award along the way, the same cannot be said about Harden who has been great, but only in spurts.

Harden will turn 34 next month. His prime is well behind him and whichever team he goes to next will probably be his last shot at an NBA Championship.
