Russell Westbrook has always maintained that he wants to have fun while competing. However, during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, he didn’t seem to be enjoying himself on the court. That was basically because of the Lakers allegedly not wanting the point guard on their squad.

Westbrook did not play for the Jazz after being traded to them by the Lakers. He allegedly evaluated his options before agreeing to the buyout that allowed him to join a playoff contender like the Clippers. In his first Clippers press conference, he showed appreciation for the love and welcome he has received.

“I think that’s a huge part for anybody, for any normal human being in any situation in the workplace… Just being somewhere that people want you & they embrace you & that meant a lot to me,” said Westbrook on being wanted by the Clippers.

Paul George, the All-Star guard’s former teammate, has openly expressed his interest in partnering with Westbrook since word of his buyout spread. The two had played together with the Oklahoma City Thunder for two seasons, but they were unable to go past the first round of the playoffs.

Interstingly, a viral video has emerged from Westbrook’s Lakers days, showing him with a hilarious avatar that read, “Have fun while playing.” This persona appears to be something that he is keen to carry forward with him to the Clippers. Westbrook’s competitive nature is unquestioned, but he appears to believe that having fun on the court is an essential part of the game.

Anthony Davis is unsure about Russell Westbrook’s effect on the Los Angeles Clippers

Anthony Davis has been performing well in the current season, averaging 26.0 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 56.2% from the field. However, without Westbrook, Davis’ performance has taken a hit as his scoring has dropped to 21.0 points per game, and his shooting efficiency has reduced to 48.4%.

Despite this, Davis has still managed to maintain his other stats, including 15.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game. Westbrook’s absence has significantly affected the Lakers’ gameplay and Davis’ performance.

“I’m not part of that team, I have no idea what their locker room is like, what their chemistry is like. … I don’t know. I know they got rid of John [Wall] and Reggie [Jackson]. I’m not sure how Ty Lue utilizes him [Westbrook] but I’m pretty sure he’s happy to stay in LA.”Anthony Davis

The arrival of Russell Westbrook on the Los Angeles Lakers team for the “Hallway Series” has created more interest and excitement, and it appears that the competition has intensified.
