“This Lakers team STINKS” Tim Bontemps claims there is NO HOPE for LeBron James and Co. to fix blunders coming off 2-8 start

The Los Angeles Lakers are sitting at the 14th spot with a 2-8 record in the Western Conference. They have been on a 3 game losing streak which has come against the Utah Jazz and the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been struggling with their respective injuries. Overall the team has been bad on both ends of the floor. Tim Bontemps believes that the Lakers are stuck and they can not do anything about the situation in Los Angeles.
On Tuesday, sports analyst Tim Bontemps sat with Max Kellerman on ESPN to discuss LeBron and the Lakers situation. Tim Bontemps said, “this Lakers team stinks,” he added, “We have been talking about it for weeks, they are just not good enough to be a team that’s gonna compete in the Western Conference.” Bontemps also remarked that the problem with the Lakers is not only their shooting but they do not fit with each other.
LeBron will be 38 in December, and Anthony Davis is already struggling with a back problem, again. The Lakers roster is not deep enough to carry the load of both superstars. According to Bontemps, “the players around LeBron James and Anthony Davis are just not good enough…the fit is bad.” As has been brought into the limelight and at this point, it is hardly unnoticed by anyone, the Lakers are among the bottom teams when it comes to shooting. As Tim also pointed out about LeBron and the Lakers, “they have the worst offense in the league and I don’t see that changing, they have no shooting on the roaster…this isn’t getting fixed anytime soon.”
When Max Kellerman proposed that the Lakers if not LeBron, should move at least Anthony Davis and try to rebuild the roster, Bontemps expressed his doubt if any of the teams in the league would trade for Anthony Davis right now and LeBron has already signed an extension with the team. Speaking on both the trade scenarios Bontemps said, “LeBron James can not be traded this season he extended in the offseason he is not able to be traded, so let’s set get that aside. If you want to look at the Anthony Davis trade, the guy is walking around holding is back all the time. What kind of trade you are gonna get from…i think the Lakers at this point are stuck.”
LeBron James and the Lakers issue is not being solved anytime soon

Watching the Lakers continuously tank has been hard for the Lakers faithful this season. Not only have other players on the Lakers roster miserably failed but both stars Anthony Davis and LeBron James haven’t been looking themselves lately. LeBron has been averaging 24.4 ppg in 36.1 minutes at 44.7 FG% so far this season. He has been shooting 21% from the 3-point line which is his career low. Anthony Davis on the other hand has been averaging 23.2 ppg which is also low for AD’s standard. Although he has not been an excellent shooter beyond the arc, his 3-point shooting percentage has declined to 28%.
In all fairness, to blame LeBron solely for the Lakers’ misfortune is unfair to him and would not diagnose the real problem with the Lakers. Although he has been averaging lesser points and his field goal percentage has fallen below 45% he has also been dealing with an ankle issue lately. Davis has not been looking what he looked 2-years ago.
He has been dealing with injuries in the last two seasons and hasn’t fully recovered since. The Lakers’ bench has been one of the worst in the NBA so far. Bench players like Kendrick Nunn, Matt Ryan, and Austin Reaves haven’t been performing what was expected of them before the season. As long as the second does not perform to a certain standard the team is going nowhere.
The problem with trading LeBron and Anthony Davis is not an easy step for the Lakers to take. LeBron has recently signed a 2-year extension and trading Anthony Davis might not be as easy as it appears to be. He has been dealing with injuries for 2-years now, and many think AD is declining. An injured and declining AD might not give the Lakers the market value they would want.
