One such anomaly was when they noticed increased prop betting on Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter. It prompted an investigation by the NBA.

Jontay Porter is the younger brother of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr.. He signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors in December and has performed well as a solid bench player. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported, citing betting reporter David Purdum, that Porter was under investigation by the league for his alleged involvement in aiding props. This came after several betting aggregators informed the NBA that props bets involving Porter were the biggest money-making deals in the betting circles.

The 6′ 10″ forward averages 4.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 33.8% from the 3. According to most betting aggregators, props on the former Missouri star were the highest. Mostly betting on his under-in points and 3-point shooting percentage in games.

The NBA’s investigation is specifically on games between the 26th of Jan and March 20th. Those were the games when prop betting on the forward spiked. If found to have any involvement, Porter could lose his job. If not, he could also face a suspension or fine or both. Fans believe this could jeopardize his career.
