A lot of players like Kevin Durant and JR Smith have been advocating for the legalization of cannabis use in professional sports for a long time. The NBA has stopped penalizing players for using the drug, and the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) even includes a clause that allows players to use cannabis without being penalized.
Mark Cuban, one of the most famous NBA owners due to his other ventures and appearances on the TV show Shark Tank, does not allow his players to overuse the drug to the point that it affects the chemistry of his team and their performance on the court.
In a recent appearance on Patrick Beverley’s podcast, ‘The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone,’ Cuban admitted to trading players who smoked a lot of weed because it could affect the team culture and have a negative impact on the new young players who might have just been drafted to the team. The overuse of the drug could also impact the team’s overall performance, which inherently hurts the team.
“No lie, I’ve traded guys because they smoke too much,” Cuban said. “Teams get their own culture. If you got some young dudes on there that are just figuring out, smoke some but don’t know what the team culture is, or the NBA culture is,” he added.
Mark Cuban states that Kyrie Irving knows that Dallas is Luka’s team
After the Kyrie Irving trade to the Dallas Mavericks, it was uncertain who would be the primary ball handler of the team, as both Ky and Luka are excellent ball handlers and great passers who elevate their team’s performance. These issues persisted throughout the games they played together following the trade, leading to them missing the playoffs last season.
Luka has proven himself to be a reliable franchise player, making the first-team All-NBA for four consecutive years and leading his team to a Western Conference Finals appearance.
In a recent appearance on ‘The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone,’ Mark Cuban talked about how Dallas is and will continue to be Luka’s team, and even Kyrie acknowledges it without any uncertainties. “Kyrie is a highly intelligent individual, and he understands that it’s Luka’s team,” Cuban stated. “There are no ifs, and, or buts about it; this is Luka’s team.”
