In a surprising move, the Atlanta Hawks have reportedly informed other teams that they are open to trade conversations involving their entire roster, with the exception of their star point guard, Trae Young. According to sources, the Hawks have signaled that Young is considered untouchable and is a vital part of their long-term plans.
There had been some uncertainty surrounding Young’s future with the team, but this recent development indicates that the Hawks are committed to building around their young superstar. Young, known for his exceptional playmaking and scoring abilities, has quickly become the face of the franchise and a fan favorite in Atlanta.
While the Hawks are open to exploring trade scenarios for other players, it’s worth noting that they are not actively shopping Dejounte Murray, and any potential deal involving the talented guard would require a substantial offer. Murray, who could sign a lucrative contract extension worth $120 million over four seasons, is set to benefit from the adjusted rules in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Dallas Mavericks consider trade options with Atlanta Hawks
The Dallas Mavericks, currently holding the 10th overall pick in the upcoming NBA draft, have emerged as a prominent trade partner in discussions with the Atlanta Hawks. Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer reported that the two teams have engaged in preliminary talks regarding a potential draft pick swap involving John Collins.
However, sources indicate that the Mavericks may be more inclined to pursue a deal for Hawks center Clint Capela instead of Collins. Dallas, known to be seeking an upgrade at the center position, values Capela’s rebounding and rim-protection skills. The 29-year-old big man’s ability to excel in pick-and-roll situations and his willingness as a rim runner make him an ideal fit alongside Mavericks’ superstar Luka Doncic.
While Collins possesses more all-around offensive skills and athleticism, it is Capela’s specific skill set that aligns with the Mavericks’ requirements for a center upgrade. Capela averaged an impressive 12.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game for the Hawks this past season.
For the Hawks, the potential trade with the Mavericks could be influenced by upcoming contractual decisions involving Saddiq Bey, Onyeka Okongwu, and Dejounte Murray. Okongwu, who has shown promise in his first two years in the league, is deserving of a larger role, which could lead to a surplus of big men on the Hawks’ roster.
