Rumors of Kyrie Irving and LeBron James targeting a blockbuster reunion have spread like wildfire. And their former teammate, Tristan Thompson, is all on-board to witness the two superstars join forces once again.
Ever since Kyrie Irving took his talents to the Dallas Mavericks, he has struggled to find that footing alongside Luka Doncic. With the Mavs struggling, rumors have flooded social media that the point guard is eyeing a reunion with James in Los Angeles, and Tristan Thompson is buying all the rumors.
According to Thompson, the duo’s success in Cleveland justifies a reunion. Thompson touched on the subject during a recent interview on The Draymond Green Show. He said, “I’ve been pushing that reuniting coming together for so long.”
He further added, “With Kyrie and LeBron, it was almost like a match made in heaven, like they brought the best out of each other. It was like the things that Kyrie does great is different than what LeBron did great. It was beautiful to watch…Together it was almost unstoppable.
Thompson further added that he will keep pushing for a reunion since the two superstars have unfinished business. “I think in terms of could it happen? Yes. Will I continue to push it when I’m on TV? Most definitely because I think Kyrie brings the best out of LeBron and LeBron does the same thing, brings the best out of Kyrie. It almost feels like it wasn’t finished. Like it wasn’t finished the way it was supposed to,” the former Cavaliers player said.
Thompson’s comments are powerful, but it’s easy to see why given that he won a championship alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Los Angeles Lakers pursuit of Irving has also been far from secret, so Thompson is not alone in his feelings. Yet it’s tough to say whether such a move is possible this offseason.

Kyrie Irving regretted the fallout with LeBron James
Kyrie Irving is one of the world’s most skilled basketball players. It’s been like that for a long time. But he’s never found the same kind of success away from LeBron James that he had with him in Cleveland when they went to three NBA Finals and claimed the championship in 2016.
The Cavs squad, headed by James, Irving, and Kevin Love, was stacked. When Irving demanded a trade in the summer of 2017, it didn’t appear to make much sense from a team standpoint.
It was painted as Irving not wanting to play in the shadow of LeBron anymore. But later, Irving cleared the air about it all. “If I was in the same maturity line and understanding of who I am [now], and I look back, we definitely, definitely would’ve won more championships,” Irving expressed.
“Because there would’ve been a better man-to-man understanding [with LeBron] about what I’m going through. I didn’t know how to share my emotions. I didn’t know how to do that. So instead of sharing, I isolated myself,” he added.
Irving also expressed regret for not reaching out to LeBron during the time when he requested the trade. Whatever the case may be, both individuals must have moved on and will be at peace. While they’ll be concentrating on the current season, fans must be ecstatic if a reunion is in the works.
