“DeMarvellous” Twitter goes berserk as DeMar DeRozan delivers a MONSTROUS slam on Trey Murphy III’s face
DeMar DeRozan
Last season with the Chicago Bulls, DeMar DeRozan showed the NBA why he is a well-deserved superstar in the league. As with the Bulls, he averaged 27.9 ppg at 50.4% field goal. He is also one of the sleekest mid-range gods in the league. This season, DeRozan’s numbers have decreased with the Bulls, but he still leads their offense. However, DeRozan delivered a brutal dunk on Trey Murphy III that got fans on Twitter ballistic.
The Bulls recently went against the star-studded Pelicans on Wednesday for a memorable game for the fans. In the fourth quarter duel between the teams, Brandon Ingram and DeRozan were exchanging buckets going back and forth. Throughout the game between the Pelicans and the Bulls, there were 19 lead changes, that perhaps speaks volumes about the game’s intensity.
However, DeRozan also delivered one of the best dunks of the season against Pelicans just in the first quarter. With 4.06 remaining on the clock, DeRozan crossed Herbert Jones to drive to the basket and delivered a monstrous dunk on Trey Murphy III’s face. DeRozan has previously appeared twice in the NBA Dunk Competition.
DeMar DeRozan and the Bulls fall short in a close match-up against Pelicans
DeRozan and the Bulls lost to New Orleans Pelicans 111-115 in a close matchup on Wednesday. DeRozan, who scored a season-low 9 points against the Raptors on Monday, came ready to make his mark in the game scoring 33 points. But his effort wasn’t enough, as Ingram and Zion Williamson combined for 27 points in the 4th quarter to seal the game for the Pelicans.
When the Pelicans were trailing 106-207, Ingram hit a 3-pointer to give the Pelicans a 109-107 lead. DeRozan followed with a dunk, to which Ingram responded with a mid-range jumper. With 17.4 seconds remaining on the clock, DeRozan committed a turnover that proved expensive for the Bulls. In the postgame interview, speaking of loss, DeRozan said, “It was nobody else’s fault”, and ”It was on me.”
DeMar DeRozan’s emphatic dunk on Trey Murphy III drove the fans crazy on Twitter
DeRozan can do so many things on the court with the basketball. DeMar also has one of the scariest turnaround mid-range jumpers the league has ever seen. But the 5-time All-Star also does not shy away from putting his mark on the ring with his ferocious dunks. Wednesday night, against the New Orleans Pelicans, was one of those nights. He put Trey Murphy III on the poster with his brutal slam dunk. Fans on Twitter went crazy after DeRozan’s emphatic slam. One of the fans wrote, “3rd greatest bull of all time, only behind Rose and Pippen”. One remarked, “I was driving so I couldn’t look but by the sounds of it I thought he killed a man”. Here are some of the reactions on Twitter:
DeMar DeRozan and the Bulls are struggling with their 6-7 record and a major reason for it has been the injuries the roster has dealt with. They still don’t have Lonzo Ball back and are struggling on the defensive end. But it’s just some weeks into the season and they have got a lot of time to improve and adapt to the new changes. Also, DeMar DeRozan and Zach Lavine are back and improving their form game by game. The team is in a good spot right now even though the stars are struggling with the numbers. So once when they get that up and are back and ready the Bulls can be a serious contender for the ECF.
