Lionel Messi finally made his Inter Miami debut, scoring a stunning freekick to kickstart his new career. The arrival of Messi attracted celebrities from every corner with LeBron James also present in the audience.
LeBron James and Messi shared a moment after the match where the two can seen hugging each other. James quickly went to Instagram to welcome the star to MLS and Messi also extended his appreciation to the King with a special message on his Instagram. The new MLS star was extremely grateful for the support he is getting from his sports counterpart James. Messi on his Instagram reposted James’ story with the caption, ” Thanks a lot brother!!! It was really nice to see you!”
James is a huge soccer fan himself with him being a minority stakeholder in the Liverpool Football Club, a club in the Premier League in Europe. Although Messi is not a huge basketball fan he is very much aware of James’ popularity. The Argentine’s debut was witnessed by a crowd attendance of close to 21,000, with tickets selling out weeks before his match. The crowd also featured big-name celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams and club co-owner David Beckham.
The 36-year-old entered the match against Cruz Azul as a substitute in the second half. He immediately made an impact on the game when he unleashed a long-free kick goal to capture his first victory with the Florida-based team.

Lionel Messi’s response to LeBron James was well-received by fans on Twitter with NBA fans appreciating the Argentine icon for his gesture. Fans were quick to call both players the ‘Goat’ of their own sport, a nod to the two as they are undisputedly the greatest to ever do it in their own fields.
One user also pointed out that James is the only person who made Messi use English on his social media. The soccer star uploaded his story with an English caption, a rare occurrence as the Argentine does not speak English. The fan wrote, “Bro LeBron is the undisputed Goat, he finally made Messi speak English.”
