Vanessa Bryant, the wife of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, said she was devastated when she learned that the pictures from the site where Kobe’s accident occurred were shared among law bearers and first sighters. She added that she was bewildered, hurt, and betrayed during the trial for her invasion of privacy lawsuit against the LA County Sheriffs and Fire departments for the leaked images. She even feared that these images might as well be circulated on various social media platforms.

In a report by Vanessa’s lawyer, he mentioned how the deputy shared the images of Kobe’s decollated body among some strangers at a local bar. Vanessa seemed more concerned when she heard that these officers were caught sharing photos with strangers. Vanessa added, “I expected them to have more compassion.’’

The county even agreed to pay a sum of $2.5m (£2.1m) to the Chester and Bryant family over the emotional pain, but Vanessa refused to settle. Her federal lawsuit was made alongside Chris Chester, who lost his wife Sarah and daughter Payton in the crash. “I bolted out of the house, and I ran to the side of the house so the girls couldn’t see me. I wanted to run… down the block and just scream,” Vanessa mentioned.

Further, talking about the leaked photos Vanessa said she felt “blindsided, devastated, hurt and betrayed” and now “[lives] in fear everyday of… having these images pop up”. She also added: “I don’t ever want to see these photographs, I want to remember my husband and my daughter the way they were.”

Vanessa Bryant’s claim for her invasion of privacy gets defended by county lawyer

Jurors at the trial have heard how sheriff’s deputies and firefighters took gruesome cell phone photos at the accident site and showed them to others, including at a bar and a gala event. During opening statements last week, Mrs. Bryant’s lawyer Luis Li said that these employees “poured salt in an open wound and rubbed it in” on her feelings.

But a lawyer for the county J Mira Hashmall made a comeback, stating that “site photography is essential” and the pictures had not been posted anywhere in public. He added, “They’re not online, they’re not in the media, they’ve never even been seen by the plaintiffs themselves.” Kobe’s wife, Vanessa, was the last witness for the prosecution. The defense, citing the importance of site photography in such situations, will argue their next hearing. She is said to be seeking millions of dollars over the ordeal that her grieving family shouldn’t have gone through in the first place.
