Former Houston Rockets guard Vernon Maxwell is one of the most fun basketball players to follow on Twitter. Maxwell appears to have a genuine dislike for the state of Utah, frequently sending out tweets that appear to be directed towards the city, its team, and its fans. Most recently he was seen trolling the Utah franchise for trading Donovan Mitchell , congratulating him on making it back to civilization by leaving Utah.

Maxwell is a two-time NBA champion who was a key member of the Houston Rockets, captained by Hakeem Olajuwon, who won the championships in 1994 and 1995. Although Maxwell may be just providing entertainment on Twitter, the Houston Rockets star detailed the origins of his interest on the Jazz franchise on the Real Ones podcast, giving a fairly telling description of his experiences as an opposing player in Utah.

“Back in the day, people said things to me that I didn’t like. They used to call me n- and talk in all kinds of sh-. Discuss your family. But it’s fine since I have no idea what the f- they were trying to accomplish. I’m not sure if it was an intimidating gesture or an attempt to terrify me. However, they were f-ing with the wrong m-fer. What the m-fers were saying to me kinda scared me out there. They were aiming for my a-.”Maxwell went on to say that he had comparable encounters with other fanbases, but that the conditions in Utah were always unpleasant due of the fans.

Donovan Mitchell is the missing piece Cleveland needs

Donovan Mitchell, a three-time NBA All-Star, has been acquired by the Cleveland Cavaliers from the Utah Jazz. Mitchell later confirmed the transfer by tweeting a picture of himself as a child wearing Cleveland jerseys and sharing his excitement about playing with new teammate Darius Garland.
