The Golden State Warriors pulled off a blockbuster trade on Thursday. The team landed veteran point guard Chris Paul from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Jordan Poole, Ryan Rollins and two future draft picks, sources told ESPN’s, Adrian Wojnarowski.

The move was a surprise to many, as Paul had just been traded to the Wizards from the Phoenix Suns earlier this week in a deal that sent star guard Bradley Beal to the desert. Paul, who reportedly wanted to join a contender team, got his wish as he now joins a squad that features two of the best shooters of all time in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Paul is 6 feet tall, Curry is 6 feet 3 inches tall, Thompson is 6 feet 6 inches tall, Andrew Wiggins is 6 feet 7 inches tall and Draymond Green is 6 feet 6 inches tall. That means that the average height of the Warriors’ projected starting lineup is 6 feet 4.4 inches tall, which is way below the average height of NBA players by position.

The average height of NBA players by position in 2022 was as follows:

  • Point guard: 6 feet 3.5 inches
  • Shooting guard: 6 feet 4.5 inches
  • Small forward: 6 feet 7.75 inches
  • Power forward: 6 feet 8.5 inches
  • Center: 6 feet 10.75 inches

The Warriors’ starting lineup would be shorter than the average height of every position except point guard. They would also be giving up a lot of size and length to other teams that have taller and longer players at each spot.

NBA Twitter did not hold back in roasting the Warriors for their lack of height. Many fans made jokes and memes about how the Warriors would struggle to defend and rebound against bigger opponents.

Here are some of the reactions from NBA Twitter:

Despite the criticism and skepticism, some people have also expressed optimism and excitement about the trade. They believe that Paul’s experience, leadership and playmaking will benefit the Warriors greatly, especially when Curry or Thompson are resting or having an off night.
