WATCH: After LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo hangs Jusuf Nurkic in a viral poster
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo is again in the conversation for the regular season MVP, as he continues his domination in the league. The Greek Freak seems more than determined to carry his team on his shoulders this season when one of the key parts of the Milwaukee Bucks Khris Middleton is out with injury. So far into the season, Giannis is averaging, over 30 points and 11 rebounds a game. He has also been a key defensive factor for the Bucks in the paint area.
Jusuf Nurkic had a double-double double night for the Blazers as he scored 16 points and secured 10 rebounds for the team. But it was one of the nights that Nurkic would definitely want to forget not only for his poor performance but also because he became the latest victim of Giannis’ poster dunk.
After Jerami Grant missed a mid-range jumper, George Hill collected the rebound and immediately passed the ball to Giannis. Once the ball was in Giannis’ hands, he ran the fast break like a freak train and dunked the ball over Jusuf Nurkic. Although Nurkic barely tried to stop Giannis, the dunk made Jusuf a poster highlight. The dunk on Nurkic is being compared to the monstrous dunk LeBron James had on him in 2018.
Giannis Antetokounmpo scored team-high 37 points for the Bucks and made 16 of his 24 field goal attempts in the game. Giannis also secured 7 rebounds and dropped 6 dimes to help the Bucks beat the Blazers. However, the third quarter became the deciding factor in the game as Bucks limited Blazers to only 18 points and score 30 points in the quarter. Milwaukee is now 9-1 at home.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks officially become the 2nd best team in the NBA
With their win over the Blazers on Monday, the Bucks are now officially the second-best team in the NBA, behind Boston Celtics. They have now won 12 games out of a total of 16 games this season. On the other hand, this is Portland’s third straight loss. Despite the Bucks receiving hard fouls from the Blazers who were determined to win the game with their physicality, Giannis said, “I take a lot of hard hits but at the end of the day it’s basketball.” He added, “I enjoy putting my body on the line. It puts a fire in my belly and wakes me up. When I get hit, I kind of enjoy it. I feel I’m part of the game, I’m locked in and I’m being aggressive.”
Starting the season strong, the Portland Trail Blazers have now fallen to the 8th spot in the Western Conference. Last week Blazers were on the top of the standing table in the conference. The issue with the Blazers is largely concerned with the absence of Damian Lillard due to injury. The head of the snake for the Blazers and the 6-time All-Star Damian Lillard was already out of the game since he has been dealing with an injury. Jerami Grant scored 18 points and was -20 in plus/minus odd.
