The Brooklyn Nets faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 2 of round one of the playoff series. The visiting Nets tried their level best to even the series but eventually succumbed to pressure put up by their rivals.

The Nets’ 96-84 loss to the Joel Embiid-led 76ers included several moments of high intensity, making it a competitive game. Tyrese Maxey led the way for the 76ers, scoring 33 points and three rebounds. While Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris followed with 20 points of their own. Cam Johnson led the way for the Nets, scoring 28 points and grabbing four rebounds. Mikal Bridges and Spencer Dinwiddie followed with 28 and 12 points respectively.

The low-scoring game was won by the Nets in the first half as the team grabbed a 49-44 half-time lead. In the absence of Joel Embiid and James Harden’s scoring contributions, the Sixers struggled during the first half and trailed. The Sixers faced early foul trouble, with Harris accumulating three fouls and Harden picking up two. Furthermore, the bench players, including Jalen McDaniels (3), Georges Niang (2), and De’Anthony Melton (2), also faced early foul trouble, which limited their playing time. Cam Johnson was the star of the first half, helping the Nets lead by almost 10 points at one point.

Though, the biggest moment of the first half was when Johnson posterized Embiid. Johnson drove to the three-point line and made a quick one-two with Seth Curry. He then drove to the rim where he could see Embiid waiting for him. The Nets star proceeded to “baptize” Embiid with a thunderous dunk. This sent shockwaves on social media as Johnson dunked on the leading MVP candidate this season.

After trailing at the half, the Sixers managed to forge a comeback in the second half to win 96-84 at the Wells Fargo Center, taking a 2-0 lead in the series. The Sixers turned the night around with a massive run in the third quarter. Tyrese Maxey was the star of the show, contributing 33 points while Tobias Harris and Joel Embiid added 20 points each in the second half to secure the victory.

The Sixers struggled in the first half, committing 11 turnovers and shooting 42.5% from the field and 4 of 16 from beyond the arc. However, they improved their shooting in the second half and also stepped up their defense, containing the Nets and limiting Cam Johnson, who scored 22 points in the first half, to just six points in the second.

Next up, the Sixers will travel to the Barclays Center for Game 3 on Thursday, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
