In light of the match-up between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets on Sunday night, a Laker fan injured himself while attempting to score a half-court shot as a part of an in-game contest for a cash prize of $55,000. The LA Laker fan went by the name Anthony, happened to suffer a lower leg injury. The contest was a part of a promotion with MGM Rewards.
Anthony in his attempt to take a half-court shot was seen taking a run up from a few steps behind the line but eventually couldn’t score. His shot missed the mark, barely making it to the basketball rim. As he took the run-up, he immediately found himself on the ground and was seen clutching his ankle in pain. Anthony tried to get up to take his chance at winning with another attempt but his injury prevented him from doing so.
He was also offered to take his chance at winning a smaller reward for an option for scoring a three-pointer, but Anthony was in so much pain, he needed assistance to get off the basketball floor. But for what it was worth, he gave in his best shot.
While he failed to secure the $55,000 prize and injured himself, Anthony will take some solace in the Lakers’ 105-104 win over the Houston Rockets. LeBron James scored a season-high 37 points including six rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. The Lakers improved to 8-6 and are currently sixth in the Western Conference standings.
