Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is known to trash talk a lot on the court. He does not mind getting into heated arguments with opposing players.

One such situation developed on a play during the Mavericks vs Utah Jazz game held today. On a drive to the basket with Kris Dunn guarding him, Luka passed the ball to an open Derick Jones Jr. Doncic then turned towards Dunn smiling at his missed defense. Dunn did not take this well and walked towards Doncic with his pointed finger poking Doncic’s still smiling face.

Both Luka Doncic and Kris Dunn were issued technical fouls following the altercation. The game being a one-sided affair between the Dallas Mavericks and the Utah Jazz might have added to the issue Dunn had with Doncic. While discussions with the referee near the reviewing booth, Doncic was heard saying;

I didn’t do nothing, he’s just mad I’m busting his a**,

bro… I’m giving him buckets.

The referee tries to calm the situation down and asks Doncic if they can shake hands and let it be. To this Doncic replies;

Hell no

Doncic knew he had got into Kris Dunn’s head and the guard was just adding to the taunts with the smile. The referee also knew this and the maximum he could do to calm the situation down was to issue technical fouls to both Doncic and Dunn.

The 50-point blowout

The game between the Mavericks and the Jazz took place after a three-day rest for both teams. Starting from the first quarter, the Mavericks ran out to a commanding lead. Heading into the second half 74-51, Doncic was already on a triple-double. The game ended with the Mavericks ending the game with a 50-point lead over the Jazz.

Luka Doncic had a 40-point, 10 rebounds 11 assists this game. His illustrious teammate Kyrie Irving had 26 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. 6 players of the Mavericks finished with double-digit points compared to only 4 from the Jazz. Doncic’s performance is amazing when you consider that he has just become a father and has not had enough sleep before the game.

Doncic has had heated debates with opposition players before. Taunting, trash talk, and trolling are part of his game. And more than one adversary has fallen in front of him.
