Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is no stranger to making shots from long range, whether it’s on the hardwood or on the grass. The two-time NBA MVP and avid golfer displayed his versatility on Saturday, when he nailed a hole-in-one at the American Century Championship celebrity tournament in Stateline, Nevada.

Curry, who was leading the event after the first round, aced the par-3, 152-yard seventh hole at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course with a flawless tee shot that landed about 2 feet from the pin, bounced once and vanished into the hole.

It was the first-ever hole-in-one on that hole during the American Century Championship, and it earned Curry eight points under a modified Stableford scoring system that rewards birdies and eagles and penalizes bogeys and worse.

Curry sprinted to the green as soon as he hit the shot, knowing it was something special. He leaped in the air and high-fived the flagstick, celebrating his incredible feat. He circled the green, soaking in the applause from the crowd, before picking up his ball from the hole.

Curry’s ace was more than just a stunning feat of his golf prowess. It was also a social media sensation that drew rave reviews from fans. They lauded him for his talent and versatility in both sports. Many people drew parallels between his golf and basketball abilities, pointing out that he can hit shots from anywhere on both courts. Some even quipped that he should join the PGA Tour or switch sports altogether after he’s done with basketball.

Here are some of the reactions from Twitter:

Curry doesn’t just dabble in golf when he’s not busy draining threes. He’s a skilled and avid golfer who has impressed on the links many times. He’s also used his love for the game to make a difference in the lives of young athletes who don’t have the resources or opportunities to play golf.

That’s why the PGA recognized him with the 2023 Ambassador of Golf Award. And with his jaw-dropping ace on Saturday, Curry once again dazzled fans with his incredible shot-making, just like he does on the court.
