“You hate Jewish people!” Marcus Stroman gets WHACKED on social media for comparing Ja Morant’s gun violence to Kyrie Irving’s ‘antisemitic’ tweet that resulted in Nike terminating his contract
New York Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman has stirred up controversy on social media after criticizing Nike for endorsing basketball player Ja Morant, who has been embroiled in a series of gun-related controversies.
Morant, one of Nike’s newest endorsers, has his own signature shoe with the brand. However, he has faced accusations of making gang signs with his fingers, posting a video on Instagram holding a gun in a club, allegedly threatening another NBA player with a gun emoji, and being investigated by police for firing shots outside a hotel.
Stroman took to Twitter to express his frustration with Nike’s decision to support Morant, calling the brand “trash” and accusing them of hypocrisy. He pointed out that Nike had recently dropped Brooklyn Nets player Kyrie Irving over his stance on COVID-19 vaccines, but was now endorsing Morant despite his questionable behavior.
Stroman’s comments drew mixed reactions on social media, with some supporting his criticism of Nike’s decision and others defending Morant and questioning Stroman’s own controversies.
Nike responded to Stroman’s criticism with a statement expressing their support for Morant’s accountability and well-being but did not address Stroman’s accusations of hypocrisy.
The debate over Nike’s endorsement of Morant continues, with opinions divided on whether the brand’s decision was appropriate given his recent controversies. The issue raises questions about the responsibility of companies to support athletes, as well as the role of personal choices and behaviors in endorsement deals.
Eagles WR AJ Brown CLOWNS NBA star Ja Morant following his gun controversy
The NBA star Ja Morant, who plays as the point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies, has been recently involved in some questionable activities in the last few weeks. Furthermore, the star player was recently suspended for two games for another one of his antics. And now, after the incident, a two-week-old video of the Eagles WR AJ Brown clowning him has started to resurface on social media.
Morant has been suspended for 2 games for flashing a firearm during his Instagram live stream. This is not the first time he has been caught doing something like this. Recently, he was accused of punching a 17-year-old kid and threatening him with a gun. Furthermore, the Athletic recently reported that Ja Morant’s friends might’ve pointed a gun at the Indiana Pacers team staff.
And now, he has been caught flashing his gun on social media. However, Ja Morant has apologized for his behavior on Saturday and has vowed to work on getting better overall.
“I take full responsibility for my actions last night,” Morant said in the statement. “I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis, and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”
