“Not Even Making a Dent” Skip Bayless discards LeBron James’ Recent Offensive Tear with a Petty 3-out-of-10

Skip Bayless gives LeBron James 3-out-of-10

Skip Bayless in his recent rant against his favorite punching bag LeBron James discarded the latter’s offensive tear that he has been putting on this year. The Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night beat the Brooklyn Nets 106-96 on road. LeBron James had another other-worldly performance in the game leading the team in scoring.

LeBron James had an impressive all-round performance in the game. He put up 33 points to go with six assists and seven rebounds. He blocked two shots and picked the Nets’ pockets three times. Two of these steals included him deflecting the passes and speeding up to the rim for dunks on two consecutive Nets possessions. The last four 30-point games from LeBron have ended in a loss for the Lakers, but that streak ended on Tuesday.

But Skip didn’t stay behind and when asked how much would he rate LeBron’s season offensively Skip said – “On a scale of 1-10, for LeBron James on one of the greatest offensive tears of his career, I’ll give it a 3, because of 23-24. It is not remotely contributing to winning. It’s not even making a dent…things are going south, south and south.”

Skip’s rant comes shortly after LeBron claimed that he is having one of the best zones of his life offensively. The 4x MVP recently in a post-game interview said – “I don’t need to score 30 a night, but I’m in one of the best zones offensively I’ve been in in my career, and I don’t plan on stopping. That’s just how I feel. I feel fantastic.”

LeBron James’ season offensively: Analysis

LeBron James
LeBron James

LeBron is currently averaging 29.1 points per game efficiently at 52% from the field. He is averaging more than 50% from the field with 20.9 attempts per game, the highest of his career since 2008-09. He has Win-Shares of 5.5 this season. For context, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant have Win-Shares of 5.7 and 5.8 respectively.

As for King James’ shooting goes, LeBron is shooting a decent 35% on a career-high 7.9 three-attempts per game. Also, his True shooting for this season is 61.9%, which is the 4th best of his entire career. LeBron James’ 61.9% true shooting is also the highest this season for anyone taking 18+ shots. So, Skip has a point that the Lakers are not winning, but rating James’ run a 3-out-of-10 does not make sense and is not even close.
