“Not someone I would give my energy to”: LeBron James lashes onto Enes Kanter after calling out ‘facade’ social media justice calls

LeBron James and Enes Kanter

LeBron James and Enes Kante haven’t been the best of friends since the former’s days with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Having a heated rivalry on the court already, it seems like the duo has extended it over political and social issues outside of the basketball court. Leading to which the latest Celtics vs Lakers showdown saw both these spoken-about players having verbal banter before and after the game.

To those who are not aware, Enes Kanter began his takedown of LeBron James in early October when he commented upon the latter’s hesitancy in advocating players taking the COVID-19 vaccination. Kanter said that he found LeBron’s stance ‘ridiculous’. On November 18 he tweeted multiple images, in one of them, Lebron is crowned by China’s communist party. He also alleged that the Lakers’ star is a puppet to China and not calling out the human rights issues.

Kanter Tweeted, “Money over Morals for the “King”. Sad & disgusting how these athletes pretend they care about social justice They really do “shut up & dribble” when Big Boss, says so Did you educate yourself about the slave labor that made your shoes or is that not part of your research?”

LeBron opened up about the whole Kanter-related conversation in tonight’s post-game presser. As reported by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, James said he isn’t interested in responding to people who wouldn’t bring these conversations up face to face.

In the Celtics vs Lakers’ post-match interview, LeBron James stated, “He’s definitely not someone I would give my energy to, you know, trying to use my name to create an opportunity for himself. Definitely won’t comment too much on that… He’s always kind of had a word or two to say in my direction.”

Having said that, the LA Lakers’ superstar was also attacked by Donald Trump Jr ever since the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict has come out. Safe to say, it seems like any famous personnel feels obliged to take shots at the 4xNBA Champion on every social issue.
