Right now all eyes are on the Los Angeles Lakers as they enter a situation where they would have to give it their all to win the remaining 20 odd games left or let go of their dream of winning the title this season. The Lakers were one of the escapees of the trade deadline after numerous claims were made hinting at the trade of Russell Westbrook. But now, it seems like they may have made a mistake for not making proper efforts to get them onto the winning path.
The purple and gold have only won 6 out of their last 20 games prior to which they were ranked among the top five in the Western Conference. They have currently filled up the 9th seed among teams of the West with a record of 27 wins and 34 losses. Not to mention that they have lost Anthony Davis for four to five weeks which could cost them a playoff run this season if the rest of the team fails to build a good system within that time.
LeBron James and the Lakers get booed for losing three games back to back
Following their loss against the Dallas Mavericks, the Lakers have now lost three games in a row which they should have won based on their team’s power-filled roster. The Mavericks were able to beat the Lakers by five points at 109-104. Roughly two nights earlier, the fans got a little out of hand after the Lakers suffered a loss against the New Orleans Pelicans. LeBron James and a few of his teammates got in a spat with the Lakers after the excessive booing.
LeBron James opened out about the situation in the post-game press conference and said, “If you follow my career, I will get into it with a fan so that wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for me. No matter If it’s a home crowd or someone on the opposing side. If you’re cheering or booing it’s still fine, but this guy literally telling me how to play basketball. So that’s why you got the response, you seen me respond to it.” The King has scored 26 points with 12 rebounds against the Mavericks after trying his hardest to come back with a win. The Mavericks ultimately emerged as the victor.
Draymond Green comes in support of LeBron James after “spoilt” fans shower their hate over the current losing streak
Draymond Green, a longtime friend and former finals rival of LeBron James came in support of his hard efforts. On The Volume podcast, Green brought up the ugly situation of LeBron being booed for Lakers’ underperforming every night. He said, “For an organization that has had so much success, to start booing when things aren’t going right. That’s whack to me. Everyone gets upset if a player comes out and says ‘oh forget them fans or they not with us anyway.’ Most of those people in the arena, don’t know how it feels to get booed.”
He further commented saying, “To get booed by your own fans, it’s very distasteful and disgraceful. I thought that was pathetic. Like let’s not be spoiled brats.” The three-time NBA Champion handed over Lakers’ fans a solid sum of words highlighting his experiences with Cleveland Cavaliers fans during the All-Star weekend. He also said that the Lakers have two options to go ahead with, either regroup and work together or dismantle and rebuild. As of now, the Lakers are positive that they wish to make it work and will try playing better in future games.
