“People have lost belief and faith, but mine is unwavering”-Jaylen Brown believes Boston Celtics still can Turn-the-Tables
Jaylen Brown knows that the gyre is breaking for the Boston Celtics, and after their recent defeat against the Philadelphia 76ers, the moment may come soon. The Boston Celtics are stuck into those artistic slumps where one knows the presence of the idea or inspiration but fails to express it in reality.
The Celtics are going through a bumpy ride and their roster’s bad blood between them isn’t helping much. With Marcus Smart pointing and calling out the top two scorers as “selfish” and “not passing enough” to a coach who has no filter. Ime Udoka might not shy away from speaking his mind out but publically disparaging your players might give birth to a feud leading to bad intentions between him and the concerned player.
The Celtics whole attention has been on Eastern Conference’s player of the week Jayson Tatum. There’s no doubt that Jayson is a cannon on the court but promoting individuality in a team sport might backfire for the Celtics one day.
Everything else along with the team effort and productivity that weighs down Boston more on the losing side this season and, seems like Jaylen Brown is very well compatible with the idea.
Jaylen Brown believes the Celtics can change their tide
The Boston Celtics lost their previous match to Philly in a close battle. The results could have been different if only they hadn’t crumbled in the fourth quarter like a sandcastle.
Jaylen Brown is averaging 21.8 points per game for the Celtics and has been battling a hamstring injury since November 4th but he is back and is giving his best. He dropped 30 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists for the Celtics against Philly but that didn’t help the sinking ship.
Due to the NBA health and Safety protocol, the Celtics were missing some of their crucial players and Enes Kanter was no match for Philly’s Joel Embiid. This gave leverage to Joel who went on to raid the Celtics ring and dropped 41 points.
Jaylen Brown in the post-match conference acknowledged this fact and said, “Embiid made some tough baskets on us. Some incredible shots, to be honest. And offensively we didn’t execute as well as we would have liked to down the stretch. We had a couple of turnovers. And yeah, that cost us the game. Turnovers.”
When asked whether he believes they could turn this situation around in their favor Jaylen said, “No question. I think it’s an obvious answer for me. I know people are probably tired of hearing it, people have lost belief and faith, but mine is unwavering. I think we still can be a good team. I think we’ve shown it in spurts. I’ve been out for an extended point of time. I’m trying to get back. We’ve got guys out with COVID. I know that’s not an excuse or anything, other teams do as well. But if the question is, you asked, do I still believe? 100 percent, regardless of if anybody else does or not.”
He further admitted Celtics’ minor mistakes that led to their defeat and commented, “We gave up some big baskets. And we’ve gotta do better at adjusting on the fly. We’ve gotta do better. It’s stuff that we normally do well at, but we didn’t do well enough tonight.”
Whatever the reason but it is a waste to see a team full of potential performing so poorly on the court. The Boston Celtics can only hope that the players start to realize the seriousness of the situation and act accordingly.
