“Real Gs Move in Silence”: Draymond Green reveals single mistake made by Daryl Morey which costed Rockets the 2018 Championship

Daryl Morey and Draymond Green
With a plethora of topics being discussed in “The Old Man and The Three” podcast with JJ Redick and Tommy Alter, one and a half hours into the interview came a point when some questions were asked regarding Draymond Green’s opinion on if he felt that the Houston Rockets were sneaking up on them in the 2018 season, and that was the time when things got a little spicy on Green giving us his thoughts in retrospective on the Houston Rockets and Golden States Warriors encounter.
When Tommy Alter asked Green if he gives Houston Rockets the credit for sneaking up on the 2018 Warriors, as there was no one who thought that even the elite Rockets team could beat them, Green said that he didn’t think that the Rockets snuck on them, because they were already performing exquisitely throughout the season, and he felt there was no one other than the Warriors in the entire league who could’ve beat them.
He even pointed out that beating LeBron James would’ve been a tough task but he still felt that other than the Warriors, no one could’ve beat the Rockets and specifically pointed out the moment where they messed up, and who was responsible for shattering their dreams of winning the NBA Championship in 2018.
Let us take a closer look at who Green felt was responsible for their downfall.
Draymond Green holds Daryl Morey responsible for Rocket’s loss in the 2018 Conference Finals

While answering Tommy Alter’s question, Draymond felt the urge to point out specifically why the Rockets lost, and whom he personally holds responsible for their loss.
This was something that no one saw coming, including the host himself, JJ Redick which he highlighted later in the interview, Draymond held Daryl Morey responsible for Rockets loss to the Warriors in the 2018, saying “Real Gs Move in Silence”

Draymond highlighted that everything was going right for the Rockets, from them having an excellent performance throughout the season to them hosting the Warriors in the final match of the Conference Finals in their Home Stadium, but where they messed up was when Daryl Morey said, “This team is built to beat the Warriors… We built this team to specifically beat the warriors”, and that is what Draymond felt gave them the reason to win over the Rockets.

Draymond had a bitter-sweet advice for Daryl, saying “Real Gs walk in silence” or rather implying, Talk the talk but also walk the walk. At that point of time, Warriors outlined a plan to beat the Rockets, which at the end, played out perfectly for them.
Warriors decided that they would let Harden do all that he wanted, and wouldn’t stop him from scoring, but what they would instead do is, guard everyone, except for Harden to eventually burn him out and get him tired, so that then, the Warriors could take over.
Draymond also pointed out, “No matter who you are, if you have to dribble the ball 32 times, you have to get tired… it is taxing[physically]”, and that was the Warriors, moving in silence, and taking away the victory from the Rockets’ hands, in their very own ground, also taking away the hopes of winning a Championship that season.
Draymond’s Advice more than Shade to Daryl Morey

In the final minutes of this clip when JJ Redick points out that he never expected Daryl Morey shade in the interview, Draymond highlighted that it was advice more than shade and that Daryl Morey should’ve never made those comments.
What Draymond implied was that Daryl’s statements made it a head on competition between the Warriors and the Rockets, which the Warriors were well prepared for.
They let the Rockets do their thing throughout the season and waited for the perfect time when they would play their pieces, also highlighting that the Chris Paul injury comments were just excuses and nothing more than that as Kevin Durant was injured in the next season and they still lost. The Kevin Durant-Warriors era was different, when only three teams were real competitors, LeBron James led Cleveland Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors, and the James Harden led Houston Rockets, and what the Warriors did according to Draymond was that they put everyone in their place, also highlighting the importance of “Real Gs move in silence”, which to be honest, sounds like right advice from him.
