The Los Angeles Lakers are on the verge of being eliminated from the play-in tournament if they lose their match against the Phoenix Suns. However, before their game, Stephen A. Smith has called the lakers a national basketball atrocity.

The lakers and their big three of Lebron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook haven’t got that much playing time, with either Lebron James or Anthony Davis out due to injury. And as such, they are 16 games behind .500 and are 3 games behind the 10th spot holder San Antonio spurs. And even in their today’s match with the Suns, Lebron James has been ruled out due to left ankle soreness and Anthony Davis has been listed as questionable for the match.

Before the start of this season, they tried to rebuild their roster by trading for Russell Westbrook and several other veterans but their season has been a failure. However, the health factor of their senior player can also be attributed to their bad season, with both Lebron James missing a few games due to knee problems and Anthony Davis missing nearly 40 games due to ankle and knee problems.

However, this hasn’t stopped the critics from slamming the team. And now Stephen A. Smith on ESPN NBA has blamed the Lakers GM, the coaching of Frank Vogel and the players for the disastrous season.

He said, “The lakers are an atrocity. And that starts from the top down. It starts with Jeanie Buss allowing Linda Rambis to have power. It goes from there and disintegrates down to Rob palinka….it also seeps further down to Frank Vogel, who lost the team because they stopped listening to him a long time ago. And in the middle of all, it is the culpability on the shoulders of Lebron James.”

It is rumoured that Frank Vogel would be fired before the start of the next season and Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers and Los Angeles Clippers Ty Lue are rumoured to be selected for the job. And also, there are rumours that AD or Russ would be traded and their veteran core could also be traded for some young talent.
