The 2021-22 season took a shockingly different turn than what most of us would have expected to happen. On one hand, we have the Los Angeles Lakers who were the projected number one team out of the West Conference, and on the other, we have the actual reigning number one seed in the division, the Phoenix Suns.
The Suns were slept upon as the league waited for other teams to rise above them including the Lakers. The Lakers are currently the ninth seed with an uneven record of 26 wins and 30 losses. The Suns are currently dominating over the entire league with a record of 44 wins and only 10 losses.
The Los Angeles Lakers slip down from the winning side
Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise are growing exceedingly frustrated with the team, including their own players. Prior to the start of the season, the situation seemed straight and the Lakers were set to win another trophy. But injuries combined with the unforgiving pandemic took the best out of the Lakers team.
Besides that, players are highly accepting of the fact that they still have to put in a lot more work into their game. Following a gruesome loss against the Milwaukee Bucks, LeBron James was blatant about the team’s condition and said that they will not reach contention status unlike the work extremely hard towards the remainder of the season.
The coaching staff is yet to understand a proper system as it already seems a little too late now. The diminishing game of Russell Westbrook is a huge factor that slows down the process. The core group in the LeBron James and Anthony Davis are still hopeful to make things work.

The Phoenix Suns have had one of their best seasons in decades led by Chris Paul who happens to be a good friend of the King. The team has been sweeping past teams with ease and it is something most of us were not expecting to see this season. As they keep fighting their way upwards, the chances of them getting their redemption grow bigger each passing day.
Cameron Payne, guard for the Suns took to Twitter saying, “Ain’t nobody scared of him. I know for sure that we weren’t.” The Suns upset the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs last season. The Lakers stood as their biggest obstacle but an unhealthy roster gave way to the Suns to overtake them.
This season it seems as if the roles have been reversed as the Suns stand at the top and the Lakers slip into the play-ins. If the Lakers manage to win the play-in tournament then they will be matched up with the Suns once again in the first round. The Suns are looking confident and ready to face the team once again, are the Lakers?
